Hi I'm Tyson

I grew up in Utah. I am a father, husband, provider, and student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently finishing up my bachelors degree in health science and applying to occupational therapy graduate schools. To support my wife and baby girl I work as a server at a restaurant. My hobbies include: sports (especially soccer and fishing), music, reading, and the outdoors. I play the guitar and piano. I have lived in Utah, Arizona, and California. I served a full time LDS mission in Arcadia, California. I speak Spanish and English. Serving, helping others, and spending time with my family are among my top values.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have learned for myself that it is Christ's church. I was raised in this church and I was taught correct principles my entire life. I am grateful that I was able to be placed in a family that could teach me how to know who I am, where I came from, and what happens when I die. I was not forced to think or believe the way that I do. I was given the proper tools to find out the truth for myself. God requires that we do our part to learn of Him and to ask Him if He is really there and what His plan is. I have done that many times in my life and I know by the Holy Spirit that God lives and that this is His church. I believe that God answers prayers and communicates with us through His spirit. Through prayer I have come to know God and I have come to know that He is directing His church through prophets, as He has always done. As I have lived the teachings of Christ I have found peace and direction in my life. I have asked God if this is His church and if I must follow these teachings to return and live with Him and my family again when I die. In many ways, God has told me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church and that I must follow its teaching to return to live with my family in His presence again. I have felt the peace and love that God gives by repenting and coming unto Him through living His teachings. The Book of Mormon and its teachings have been a wonderful piece of evidence for me that God restored His church today through Joseph Smith. The teachings of the Book of Mormon have brought me closer unto Christ and have helped me find answers to my questions. It feels right and it feels good to be a Mormon. I know that everyone who seeks the truth will find it through scripture study, prayer, and living Christ's teachings.

How I live my faith

I attend church every week. I have had opportunities to speak to the congregation and share what I believe to be true. I often have opportunities to serve families in my congregation by visiting them and teaching them what I have learned. I have had many opportunities participate in various service projects for the community. I enjoy every opportunity I get to help clean up the streets or help a neighbor who is struggling to keep up with their yard. I like to spend time with my family and help them with whatever they need. I do my best to follow Christ's teachings exactly how He wants me to. Even when it is hard I choose to serve those around me and put others first. When I make mistakes I try to fix them and do better.
