Hi I'm Austin

I'm a student, I'm from southern California, I love to play volleyball and the guitar, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Austin and I'm from Irvine, California. I'm currently finishing up my degree in statistics. I love to learn, play volleyball, and play the acoustic guitar. Reading is both a hobby and a passion (Got any good recommendations?). I occasionally create and host 5K Fun Runs with a twist - usually an obscene amount of food in the middle. God, my family, and the gospel are my highest priorities.

Why I am a Mormon

My testimony means everything to me. It's difficult to think about what my life would be like without the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His church in my life. I know that all the blessings I have been given are from God, and from being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My testimony has come over time, and living the gospel, as is promised in John 7:17. Even though I was born into the church, it wasn't until I decided to always try to live Christ's gospel that I was able to receive a true testimony. Through living the principles I've learned through the scriptures and prophets have made me happier than I've ever been, and I know that this is only possible because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I know the Atonement is true and real, because I've experienced the influence of it in my life, through faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. I'm a Mormon because I've found for myself that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and contains the fullness of the gospel, and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and restored Christ's church again on the earth. By living the principles of Christ's Gospel, I receive witnesses every day of the truthfulness of these things. Because of this I know Jesus Christ is our Savior, and he suffered for all of our sins so that we may be cleansed, if we truly desire. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and through him was the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored. His life and death are a testimony to these truths. I also know that the church has continued to be led by Christ since 1830, and Thomas S. Monson is the prophet of God today. The Holy Ghost bears witness to me in many ways, large and small, that these things are true, and that the same testimony is open to anyone who will work for their salvation through the Gospel. In the end, being a Mormon and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me immense happiness and peace.

How I live my faith

I live my faith first by learning about Jesus Christ and how I can emulate Him. Studying the scriptures to know of the truth and striving to live these the teachings is a long, continual process, but it's the best way that I've found to experience true, lasting happiness. I know that we can all be cleansed and become 'a saint through the Atonement of Christ the Lord' (Mosiah 3:19). I live my faith by being kind to those around me. We never know what others are going through, and I try to remember that as I go throughout my day. Here's one of my favorite thoughts on being kind: I have wept in the night For the shortness of sight That to somebody’s need made me blind; But I never have yet Felt a tinge of regret For being a little too kind.
