Hi I'm Root

I'm a huge Atlanta Braves fan. I Love a good BBQ and slow cooked ribs and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a pilot in training, so far I have my private license and am working on my other ratings. I have a degree from Utah State University in marketing. I married my beautiful wife back in 2015. I served a mission for the Church from 2011-2013 in southern Texas. I love the Atlanta Braves and love going to the games when I get the chance. I grew up when the Braves were on the hot streak of winning division titles and my first words were "Chipper Jones". Very few things make me more happy than going to a ball game and eating a hot dog. I'm always down for a tall glass of milk and some cookies. By far my favorite moments in life have been being able to spend time with my family. I love the time I have to hang around with my sibling and I truly love them.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and went to church every Sunday as well as participating in scouting activities, seminary, and other church groups. I loved the time that I spent doing those things but I never really knew if what I was doing was what I wanted or if it was the path that my parents chose for me. About mid way though my junior year of high school I was diagnosed with depression and found myself in a on going mental battle. My grades in school dropped drastically and my relationships with my family and friends were deteriorating. I never really felt sad or happy, I was just numb. Looking back it really frightens me to think that I didn't care about the future and I was just going though the motions of life. It wasn't until I truly came to know Christ that I was able to take control of my situation. Through constant prayer and reading the Book of Mormon I was able to change my outlook on life. I can honestly say that life is exciting and worth living, I know that we all have a purpose in life and that through Christ we can all be healed.

How I live my faith

I do my best to make the teachings of Christ at heart as I go throughout my day. It can be difficult at times because of school or work, but I strive to build a stronger connection with my Savior every day. I have seen how The Gospel of Jesus Christ has changed my life and all I want now is to help others see how it can change theirs.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

We believe that God loves us, and because He loves us He send prophets to teach us what it is that He wants us to do. That is basically what the Bible is, the writings of the prophets of olden times. We can learn from the revelation they received from God and apply it to our lives. We believe the Bible because it teaches the word of God and testifies of His son Jesus Christ. One of the big things that we believe that may be different from other Christians is that we believe that the word or revelation of God doesn't stop with the Bible. He talked to prophets in the past and He talks to a living Prophet today and He will continue to talk to prophets. God loves us so He gave us the Bible, He still loves us so He continues to talk with prophets. That's what the Bible Teaches. Amos 3:7 check it out. Show more Show less
