Hi I'm Mike

I'm a Halo Geek. I'm a drummer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Mike. I'm 22 years old. I just got back from serving a mission in California. I was one of the guys you saw on bikes with a white shirt and tie. Now I'm back home starting school, getting back into work, and preparing for my future. I am a total Geek when it comes to Halo. I read many of the books and enjoy the games. I am a drummer. I love to play the drums. I've been in two different bands. I love music. Couldn't live without it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. But I don't remain a Mormon simply because I grew up Mormon. I have come to know for myself, from God, that this is Christ's church. We are taught to study the scriptures for answers and to pray to God for answers. No matter how convincing people can be, nobody can be more convincing than our Father in Heaven. That's why I go to him for help. I don't think badly of other churches. Each one tries to follow God in the best way they know how. But I know that Christ has Restored His Church. He has Restored his Priesthood Authority that he gave to his Apostles. All things that have been changed and lost since the death of Christ, are back. When Christ called his Apostles, he told them to spread His Church. They did so. But people drifted away. That's why Paul wrote so many letters of correction to the different churches. They were drifting away. After everyone drifted away, God called Joseph Smith to Restore his truth and Authority in the early 1800's. Every blessing Christ wanted for his people is back on the Earth. This is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Every other Sunday I teach a group of people out of the scriptures. It takes preparation each week, so I have to stay deep in the scriptures. Which is good. I go out and visit different families to see how they are doing, to provide any help they may need, and to try to help uplift them spiritually. I offer service all the time. I help clean the church building every once in a while and help people move when I can. Once I marry and have children, that will be the center focus of how I live my Faith. I will teach my children to love and follow Christ.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Mike
We most certainly believe in the Bible. It is what God would have us know. It contains the life of Christ. It contains the Old Testament with the law of Moses. They performed Sacrifices which were in similitude of the sacrifice of The Only Begotten of the Father. The whole Bible points to Christ. It contains much of Christ's works. How he lived. The example he set. The way to follow. It was written by Prophets who were chosen by God. It contains the spiritual history of the people in Jerusalem. The reason we believe in the Book of Mormon as well as the Bible is that God didn't speak only to the people in Jerusalem. He didn't just speak to Moses and and Abraham and the people there. He loves all his children throughout the world. There were more people on the Earth than were in Jerusalem. He loves them as much as he loves anybody else. He wouldn't speak one word to one people and leave the others hanging. He spoke to people all over the world and they wrote. He has brought forth the history of the people that were living in America at the same time period the Bible was written. That's why we believe both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Both are scripture from God. Both were written by Prophets. Both point to Christ. Together they help us understand Christ even more. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Mike
If Mormons weren't Christian, then I wouldn't be a Mormon. Christ is who I follow. He is my Savior. My Master. My friend. The one on whom I can rely when I fall short. He is the only way to Salvation. There is nobody else I can rely on. No matter how hard I try, nothing I can do will get me to heaven. It's only through Christ's Sacrifice and Atonement that I have a chance. I want to do everything I can to be worthy of that grace and mercy he has available to everyone. I want to try to live like he did. I want to serve and help others. I want to be kind to others. I want to be like him. Show more Show less
