Hi I'm John Russell

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 6 children. I am now a grandfather to 7 grandchildren. I love spend time with my children and grandchildren. It is fun to watch them grow up. I enjoy sports, hiking, working, and takeing my wife on dates. I love life no matter how difficult or joyfull.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon. Life is full of challenges and without the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, I would be completely lost! I was baptised when I was eight but my conversion didnt come untill later on in my life. It came at a time in my life when I need to know that God is real and he listiens to personal prayers. I was challenged to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it were true. Thats exactly what I did. That prayer that day changed my life forever more. I testify that book is from God. That Joseph Smith was called of God to restore his true church. Jesus is the Christ and will return to Earth. The fullness of the gospel is upon the Earth today. We have a living Prophet who speaks the word of the Lord. I am thankful for repentance, for all the principles of the gospel. To which I am trying to stive to live in my everyday life.

How I live my faith

I serve in the church as a ward missonary. It is a fun and challenging calling. I get to meet new people. The best part is being able to serve others. Sometime we go out just to say hi, and sometimes we teach a spiritual thought. Sharing the gospel can be difficult for some people. I am learning to not be afraid to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are many people in todays world who just need a friend. Someone to listien to them. There are days when I need a friend to check in on me. Its a blessing either way. I like to pass out Book of Mormons. I like serving with the ward missionaries and the full time missionaries.

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

John Russell
I believe after death, the body remains in the grave for a period of time untill the resurrection. I believe my spirit will live on in the spirit world. I will continue as a spirit to learn and grow in the new spirit world. Then when I have proven worthy, the spirit and body will be reunited to live with God and his son Jesus Christ and with all my family and friends in heaven. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

John Russell
For me the Book of Mormon is special. I didnt believe it was the word of God at first. Durring some trying times in my life, (brought on by some wrong choices I made). I began to wonder if what was written in the book was true or not. I began a serious study of the book. Its funny how when things in your life arent going so well that you begin to think about God and if he really exists. So I began to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. I was also studing the Bible as well and learning many things about both books. I was even memorizing bible verses as well. I read and studied for about 3 months. Then I put the challenge to the test. Moroni 10: 3,4,5 Basically God says that if you will read the Book of Mormon seriouslly, think about what you have read, God promises that he will personally tell you if it a true book or not! Well I asked God in my personal prayer if it was true. The experience I had then I really havent shared with to many people or even with my family for that matter. The reason is is because for me personally it was such a personal spiritual experience. Somethings in life you just cant explain with just words. It was mainly how I felt at the time I asked. I felt peace, warmth, joy, more than that I felt my father in heavens love for me. I really didnt expect to feel that emotion at that difficult period in my life. After that experience I knew that the book was true. Show more Show less
