Hi I'm Brent

I grew up in Michigan. I'm a father and husband. I'm a product designer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the suburbs of Detroit. Currently, I reside in the Bay Area of California with my wife and 2 year old son. My wife is a dental hygienist and we have been married for almost 5 years. I work as an industrial designer, currently creating products in the consumer electronics industry. I enjoy drawing, art, architecture, sports, camping, movies, and playing with my sons toys.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because it helps me be a better husband, father, and person. I can't say exactly when my personal conversion came to me, but probably began when I was young and when I first read and studied the Book of Mormon. I believe in Jesus Christ. This book, along with the Old and New Testaments, truly gave me a deeper understanding of our Savior and his sacrifice for us. This book is inspired by God, there is no other way I can describe it. God personally knows me. Being a member of the church has helped me to come to know Him.

How I live my faith

I try to pray everyday with my family. I try to live by the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ. This is an ongoing process and is meant to be. Nobody is perfect, that's why I go to church. The thing that is amazing about this church is the organization and the amount of volunteer hours of service put in. There are so many opportunities to give service to other people. Whether its helping somebody move, cooking dinner for a family in need, or just saying hi to someone I don't know, I try to give service.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Tithing was a commandment in the Old Testament. In the church today, members are asked to live the law of the tithe. It's a sacrifice, sure. Following this commandment is a test of faith. I've lived paycheck to paycheck before and had to make decisions on whether or not to pay my tithing that month. The way I think about it is that the Lord has given me everything I have. So in my mind it is not really my money that I'm giving the church, its the Lord's money. Show more Show less
