Hi I'm Amanda

I'm a missionary serving in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission. I'm an artist, musician, and a student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from the San Francisco Bay Area in California. I am the oldest of four children. I am currently serving a Spanish-speaking mission for the church in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission, and I love it. I am also a student at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where I am planning on studying graphic design. I am passionate about many things, including serving others and all things music. I play quite a few instruments, but my main passions are piano and voice. I love to perform as well as listen to music. I love being a part of this church and I love the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to parents who are active members of the LDS church. I grew up going to church weekly, and for most of my childhood, went to church because that's just what my family did. Just before entering high school, my family moved to California. I suddenly wasn't surrounded by other Mormons. I had to figure out quickly what I really believed and why I believed it. I studied and prayed a lot. I wanted to know why so many people could be so committed to a church that asks so much of its members. I received an answer to prayer shortly after asking. I received confirmation that this church is true. This is the reason why so many people have sacrificed huge aspects of their lives to be a part of it. It is true. The gospel blesses many. I am so grateful to be a part of it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways. I am currently a full-time missionary for the church, which has given me the amazing opportunity to live my faith through service to others. As a missionary, I spend a lot of time studying the scriptures in preparation to teach those around me in the area in which I serve. I get to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ every day, which is a huge blessing. I strive every day to do the small and simple things, like praying and studying the scriptures daily.

What is the Relief Society?

Amanda
The Relief Society is an amazing program within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is the oldest and largest women's organization in the world, and has helped many people worldwide. It is for women of 18 years or older. As I have experienced and participated in the Relief Society, I have learned more about what it means to have charity, and to love others unconditionally, just as Christ did. I have seen broken hearts be mended and families strengthened incredibly through this amazing organization. Show more Show less

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Amanda
One of the best ways to find out information about something is to go to the source. Members of our church are a great resource for learning more. There are local congregations in many places-- information about which may be found online at lds.org. Another great resource are the missionaries. There are missionaries all over the world, all of whom would be more than happy to answer any questions and address any concerns you might have. Missionaries are called to serve their missions in order to help bring others the gospel of Jesus Christ, and would be happy to speak with you and your family. You can request a visit from the missionaries, or even chat with them online at mormon.org. Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Amanda
Missionaries of the church serve their missions at their own expense. It can be a real sacrifice to serve, but we do it anyway, because we know that our message is powerful as well as true. We share the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as our Father's plan for us. We do so voluntarily and humbly. As a missionary currently serving for the church, I have seen the blessings of this sacrifice as I have been able to serve the people living within my mission. Show more Show less
