Hi I'm Benson

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old and loving life. I am the oldest of four children and love to spend time with my family. I love absolutely everything about sports. I have played on my school's basketball and golf teams and love to especially follow college football and basketball. Skiing is another hobby of mine, and I can often be found hitting the slopes during the winter. I also love to read, my favorite books being fantasy fiction. I am currently finishing up my senior year of high school and I am super excited about my future. I recently was accepted to Brigham Young University and am preparing to serve a 2 year LDS mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been fortunate enough to have loving parents that have instilled in me a strong love for Jesus Christ and His gospel. Growing up in the church I have gained a knowledge that Christ is my savior and that through his Atonement I can live with him again. This knowledge combined with the constant love that he shows me gives me the motivation to continue living gospel standards. I know that no earthly trial is too difficult for me to overcome with my savior's help and that no sacrifice is too great in order to attain eternal life.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith by attending church on a weekly basis. I am currently in a few youth leadership positions, in which I help serve and plan activities for other youth that live in my area. I am also a hometeacher, having the opportunity to visit and serve a few specific families in my neighborhood at least once a month.

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is literally the power of God that He has given to us on the earth today. With this power comes the authority to lead and administer in the sacred ordinances of the church. The priesthood is given to all worthy male church members, each of whom can directly trace his line of authority back to our savior Jesus Christ. It is both a tremendous responsibility and blessing to hold the priesthood of God. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Faith is essentially believing in things which are not seen. We do not remember being with God before this life, and must therefore have faith in Him and his teachings. We must put our trust in Him and be willing to keep His commandments. As we strive to follow Christ our faith in Him and our desire to follow him will continue to grow. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Jesus Christ established His church while he lived on the earth. The Great Apostasy followed Christ's death. During this apostasy the priesthood, or the authority to act in God's name, was taken from the earth with the death of His apostles and many gospel truths were lost or altered. The Bible holds many truths, but not all that we need on the earth today. A Restoration was needed to return priesthood authority to the earth and to provide a fullness of gospel truths so that church members can enjoy all the blessings God has in store for us and be able to live with him again.
