Hi I'm Tamera

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old. I am the youngest of three children and my family is wonderful. I love to dance, sing, play the piano, cook, and spend time with my family and friends. I love food and people and I love to have fun! I am in college and I am studying Deaf Studies and hope to someday become an interpreter.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel and the LDS church make me so happy. Even when I am going through a really hard time in my life I remind myself that the Lord is on my side and it makes me so happy. I cannot possibly express in words the joy I feel knowing that I have a loving Heavenly Father and knowing that someday I will get to live with him again.

How I live my faith

I have helped in a few different callings in the church. I have played the organ, played the piano, lead music, and served on the service committee. These callings make me happy and I get to serve and participate with other people. I enjoy attending church on Sundays and activities during the week. It allows me to get to know others and brings a sense of fellowship.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

The best way to increase our faith in Jesus Christ is by living his principles. If we want our faith to grow, we need to continuously live in a way that brings us closer to Christ. When we consistently attend church, read our scriptures, pray, and live the way that Christ would like us to live, our faith in him will increase. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Temples in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are very sacred places. Everyone is allowed to attend and visit during an open house before it is dedicated, but after it is dedicated only members of the church who have been baptized and who have proven worthy are qualified to enter in because of the sacredness of the temple ordinances. Some of the ordinances performed in the temple are baptisms for the dead and sealing of families for eternity. All are allowed to visit the temple grounds and many temples have visitors centers where you can go and learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Serving a mission is a choice that is made individually, but it is not a requirement. Most missionaries serve between the ages of 19 and 21, but seniors and couples may also serve. Missionaries are volunteers and do not get paid for their service, but are considered representatives for the Church while they are serving. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a young boy of 14 when he wondered which church he should join. He was unsure about the churches that were present on the earth. He prayed and asked which church he should join and Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him and told him that none of the churches on the earth were true. He was then shown the way to help restore the true church back on the earth. He became a prophet and the Lord helped show him the way to bring the church back to the earth. He was very faithful and believed that this is true and was blessed for his faithfulness in restoring the gospel. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Faith is belief in our Father in Heaven, but it requires complete trust in Him. It is hope and trust in Him, even though you cannot see him. Our faith starts as something small and must continuously be nourished and strengthened in order to become stronger and to grow. You nourish and strengthen it by following His commandments and by doing things such as reading your scriptures, praying, and attending church. Show more Show less
