Hi I'm Kent Polkinghorne

Born, raised, and still live in Boulder, CO. You guessed it, I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a father of a four-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy with another on the way. My main interests are computer programming, flying airplanes, skiing, hiking, however when I get some free time I find myself wanting to spend it more with my kids and my wife even though they mostly keep me from enjoying those other hobbbies. I work two part time jobs, one doing I/T work for a small company and the other helping graduate students do civil engineering research experiments, as well as some evening school when I can. It's tough!

Why I am a Mormon

Back when I was about six my mother started taking my sister and I to church. I learned many things there on Sundays but didn't really start to see how much living the teachings of His gospel blessed me until I was more on my own after high school. I grew a lot in those first few years and have been growing ever since. I have a good idea of where I'd be without His direction in my life, and it isn't anywhere where I'd want to be.

How I live my faith

Some of the most obvious ways seem to be my refrain from using vulgar language, that I don't drink or smoke, and that I choose to spend time worshiping and focusing on the life of the Savior on Sundays. Not so obvious are the ways I try to help other people when they are down, such as the three families I visit regularily as my part of watching out for everyone in our congregation. Another that I enjoy is working with the leadership of the 25-45ish men's group helping organize lessons, activities, and planning how to help individuals who have special needs.
