Hi I'm Ruth

I'm a single mom, a substitute teacher, a real East Coast girl through and through and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of one son who I am intensely thankful for and so proud of. He is amazing!! I have worked in many different jobs. Right now, my desire and aim is to start my own business and to work completely from home. That has always been my desire. I love teaching!! I have been a substitute teacher and I got such a kick out of it. Learning is awesome, both formal and informal.

Why I am a Mormon

When the missionaries came to my house the first time, I was at school. When I came home my mother told me they had come by and wanted to meet with me. That sounded interesting. We met with the missionaries and began taking the discussions. I always say that when the missionaries began to teach us, and invited us to church and a few church activities, I felt like I had "come home." Three months later,my mother and I were baptized on January 19, 1985. I was a senior in high school and the only "Mormon" in my high school. It was quite an interesting change. My friends were going down paths that were different than the path I had chosen. It was difficult at times. However, I knew that the path I had chosen was perfect for me. One problem was that I didn't have any members of the church who I was friends with or hung out with. Due to this fact I went astray for a while. But, I always knew I would come back to the church. And, I did. Since returning to full activity in the church in 1992, I have been so blessed. I have given myself to the gospel and to my Heavenly Father 100%. Is life always easy. NO WAY!! But, I have a Heavenly Father, my Savior Jesus Christ, and the awesome Holy Ghost to guide me and strengthen me. Heavenly Father has created an awesome plan for us to live happy lives here and and to be with him, in total happiness for eternity. I am thankful for the atonement of Jesus Christ for his loving sacrifice for me. Because of his atonement, I can go to my Heavenly Father, in his holy name and get whatever help I need. He always lifts me up and strengthens me. And, I'm so grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost and for his constant testimony of truth. This gospel has changed my life so much for the better and has helped me to strive to be my best self while learning to love who I am right now because I am a child of God.

How I live my faith

My faith in my Savior is the absolute center of my life. I try to emulate the Savior everyday. Smiling at others seems to be what I love to do most. A smile can warm the heart and it can open doors. Making others feel really listened to and understood, wherever I am, is so important to me. I work with the youth of my church and I love it. They are so intelligent, thoughtful, and insightful. Just doing my best to be a good and friendly neighbor, helping when I can, and being a good listener are what I try to do. I'm on the board of a new start up non-profit agency whose aim is to eliminate poverty one person at a time. It feels good to try to help others. It is the example of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that continually sparks my desire to serve and love.
