Hi I'm Joshua Clayton

I'm a computer programmer. I am married with 5 sons (2 of whom are stepsons) and 1 daughter; and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a nerd of one sort or another my whole life. I was "smart" and curious about the world, but a poor student. I was the kid who would take apart his toys to see how they worked but often couldn't get them back together again afterward. I enjoy playing and singing music, and have written a few small short (and not very good) pieces of music. I also enjoy drawing and fiddling with computers. I have worked in a grocery store and in a call center, and I now work as a computer programmer.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, so it seemed natural to join the church when I reached the appropriate age. I was taught to pray, and had prayed, often both alone and with my family. I have felt the Lord answer my prayers. I cannot think of a time when I have had a serious doubt the God was there. I have felt the quiet whisperings of heavenly guidance at important times in my life, and I have also felt comforted in times of fear or sorrow. I am a Mormon because the doctrines of "Mormonism" have brought me closer to God, as I have studied and lived them. My belief in Jesus Christ as as my Savior has grown through my ongoing participation in this church.

How I live my faith

I try to have daily prayers and teach my children what God expects of them. We read from the scriptures as a family. I try to be a good neighbor and not to be stingy with the things I have been blessed with. As I write this I am preparing a lesson in the Sunday school class for 5 year olds, where I was asked to substitute this week.
