Hi I'm Lorna

Even though I have never lived outside of the states, I have been fortunate to travel all over the world...and I'm a Mormom.

About Me

I grew up in a large family...yours, mine, and ours kind of thing. My parents were divorced and remarried so we have all kinds of family ties! My husband and I have been married for 36 years and only to each other! We have 2 grown sons who have served foreign missions and we hope to do the same thing in the future! I am a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as is my husband and we are grateful we found this church. We love to travel and snow ski. We have skiied in many different countries and most of the states where there is snow sport. I have enjoyed needlework and am an avid reader. Daniel Silva is on my list of favorite contemporary writers. I enjoy decorating and party planning.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a protestant church and one day started to look elsewhere at religion. The missionaries found my family and asked us to read the Book of Mormon and then humbly and sincerely ask the Lord in prayer if this church was true and it was confirmed to me that this was Christ's church on the earth today. I received my OWN testimony of Jesus Christ and His church when I was 28 years old and it changed my life. No one can make that decision for you...one has to do this for himself if he is to know for certain that the Book of Mormom is true and if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. This church is all about family and how we fit into God's plan. We believe that families can be together forever. I am grateful to be a member of The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

Being an example to my friends and family is the best way to explain my faith. It is not a way of life for me, it IS my life. I attend church and stay busy with participating in activities and community service. This weekend we attended a run/walk for life activity for a friend who is battling cancer. I have served in the community as PTO president, Garden Club member, Red Cross volunteer, SC Women Voter's League member. I am past board member of the Greater Columbia Junior Cotillion and a past board member of the SC Red Cross Disaster Preparedness Agency. My community knows they can count on me to serve and try to help make our city and state a better place in which to live. In church I have served in various positions in our youth programs and women's program. I have been a teacher for many of those years and have enjoyed sharing my religion this way.
