Hi I'm Howard

I'm a Mormon. I do tech support for a living but my real job is being a husband and dad to our two kiddos.

About Me

I like snowboarding in the winter, hiking in the summer and computery stuff.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and consequently served a two-year mission when I was 19. As a kid growing up where there were not a lot of Mormons around I had a feeling I was a little different. I knew my Dad was an honest guy and when we would talk about the church I could tell he knew it was true. It wasn't till I got out on my own and started studying, praying, and talking to people about it that I gained the same testimony. I've seen how people can change their lives when they join the church. It can be a difficult change. A lot of people really struggle when they are joining the church, but it is worth it. Whatever you can do to get closer to God is worth it in the end. Now, raising my kids, I want them to have the same foundation in their lives. For me, that comes back to continuing to pray and study the scriptures.

How I live my faith

I have four families I visit on a monthly basis. The idea is just to look out for them and be sure everything is ok. Some families don't need anything but we visit, we always have a prayer before leaving. Most families struggle with the same sorts of things--work, health, kids, busy schedules, etc. If they need something that I can help with then I try to help out. As a computer guy that usually means some sort of tech support. It is not much, but it is something people need. It helps me focus on someone besides myself. After visiting I always feel better than I did before. Focusing on other people has a way of unburdening you. It helps me be more Christlike and in doing so lightens my own burden.
