Hi I'm Dottie Nanto

I grew up in State College PA, and I'm a Nittany Lion fan. I'm a mom of 3 children who make me smile. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in State College PA. I worked in the Travel Industry for 15 before I became a "stay at home mom". I have 3 children ages 22, 20 and 17 and they make me laugh. I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was 26 and got married when I was 28. I started quilting when I was 40 and did so for about 6 years. In that amount of time I made over 40 hand stiched quilts. Then my life took a turn and I have not quilted in a few years. I would like to get back into it again but just have not done so yet. I went back to college when I was 47 and earned my degree at age 50! Never too old to learn.

Why I am a Mormon

I learned about the Church from a woman that I worked with in the Travel business. We would talk about our religions and she invited me to her home to have dinner with the missionaires. It took me some time before I was ready to really take the lesson seriously. It came down to just needing to know if this was all true, or should I tell the missionaires that I was not interested. I prayed to Heavenly Father and told Him that if He has restored His church on the earth, I wanted to be a part of it but I needed Him to change my heart and really let me know if it was true. Well needless to say, I got my answer. The Spirit told me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the restored church that Christ had established. Joining the church was the best thing I have ever done. I had lived 26 years without knowing the fullness of the gospel and now I have lived the gospel to the best of my ablility for 26 years and I could not be happier. Heavenly Father led me to my eternal companion who ended up being the return missionairy son of my friend that introduced me to the church and we have been happily married for 23 years. I know that Christ's church as been restored to the earth and that we have a living prophet on the earth. I know that Christ is the son of God and atoned for our sins. We are sons and daughters of God and He loves us. He knows who we are and what we are feeling. I love my Heavenly Father and am so greatful that He led me to His church and answeres my prayers.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings and I have spent many years serving the youth in the church. I have also spent quite a bit of my time working and volunteering in the women's oranization. I mostly live my faith by trying to live my life in a way that my Father in Heaven would be happy with. I follow the teachings of Christ and use Him as an example of how to love and teach others around me. I pray for the Holy Ghost to guide me in my everyday life and pray that I will see the needs of others and know how to best serve them.
