Hi I'm Barbara

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 61 year old female with 4 grown sons, 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons and another grandson on the way.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of 34 years now. I found the church four months after I married my husband and converted to the gospel. I am so grateful that I found the true church on the earth. I don't know where I might be now without it's guidance to direct me or my family either for that matter. I had searched for the right church for a long time. I knew the right church would require it's members to keep the commandments and to pay tithing, to not smoke or drink, to follow the teachings of Christ and the Apostles but I hadn't found that. When I found the Mormon Church and started investigating it, everything I saw and heard was like it was just right, like I already knew it should be. And I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it and the Holy Ghost witnessed to me of the truthfulness of it and I knew, I knew it was the correct Church here on the earth.

How I live my faith

Every minute and day of my life.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Barbara
Individually Mormons help their neighbors and others they encounter on a daily basis, but as a church we are well known for being one of the first associations on the sites where natural disasters occur. Members of the church spend countless hours preparing humanitarian kits individually and as families or as groups that get donated to the Church for times when aid is needed. I myself have been involved in a large family project where we prepared 125 school kits for children in need. That was a great project that involved over 50 adults and children and brought a great sense of giving to all that participated. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Barbara
In a recent Church General Conference one of our Church Leaders gave a talk where he said just "Stop it". I think this pertains to pornography as well as to the topic he spoke of that day. We must not allow this filth in our homes and we must speak plainly to our loved ones about how unhealthy it is to our sensitive spirits. We cannot hide this topic as if it does not exist. It is very real and must be treated openly and with the fighting gloves that it deserves. Get rid of it. Speak openly of the trash that it is to our young men and our older men. Tell them of the wrong that it does to women and to the family and beg them to leave it behind. As Pres. Hinckley said, Let our voices be heard! Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Barbara
Just like I did, read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. Ask Heavenly Father if what you have read is true. He will tell you in your heart if it is true. I know that it is true, for the Holy Ghost bore witness to me of the truthfulness of the words that I read. I knew it as I read the Book of Mormon, the gospel was revealed to me but I took Moroni's admonition to heart and prayed about it. I never had anything touch me so strongly as this answer to my prayer. Show more Show less
