Hi I'm Tina Murdock

I'm a Mormon. I'm and mom and a grandma. I am leaving my wonderful children and grandchildren to serve a Mission in South Africa.

About Me

I am a mother of 6 wonderful children. The greatest joy of my life has been raising them, then watching them raise their families. Being a Grandma is probably the best thing that ever happened to me. I am also the "mom" of 8 step-children. It is fun to be part of their lives. We enjoy ALL our children and look forward to the time we get to spend with them. I love being a "housewife" and helping my husband run our business. Sewing quilts for my family is my fun past-time, especially for the new grandbabies. Whenever I can, I am out hiking the red rocks, exploring Native American Ruins, spending time in the mountains, horseback riding, 4-wheeling, and just enjoying outdoors. Our family loves cook-outs and it is always fun to prepare food and goodies for them. I spent much of my life teaching dance and participating in theatre. I do choreography for plays whenever I can, and love watching musicals. Having a combined family has its challenges but it also has its rewards.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised LDS, and I am thankful for parents that taught me the importance of living the gospel. Although my life didn't turn out exactly like I imagined it, I can say that because of the gospel I have been able to shape myself into a better person because of my trials. Sometimes I ask myself "why" and then as I look back on my life I realize I am so thankful for the challenges that I have had to face and for the strength they have given me. My testimony has increased because I have had to turn to the Lord for help. If I had the "Happily Ever After" life, I may not have relied on Jesus Christ like I have. I know I have gained a greater understanding of others, and a greater desire to help and encourage others because of my own personal experiences. I know never to judge another til you have walked in their shoes. I also have a great testimony of the Atonement, and know that my Savior, Jesus Christ, not only suffered for my sins, but also suffered for my heartaches and pains. I love the Book of Mormon and have found so many answers to lifes questions within its pages. I know it to be true, and another tesimony of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I love serving in the church. My greatest joy has been serving with the youth of the church, especially the Young Women. Being President of the Young Women Organization has strengthened me in so many ways. I can see how strong the youth are in the church, but I can also see the many challenges they have to face. In bearing my testimony to them, relying on my own lifes experiences, sharing their trials and good times, and just being there for them, I have come to learn that Christ really is sincere in the scriptures where it says "a little child shall lead them." My new challenge in service is that my Husband and I haved been called to serve a mission to the Durban South Africa Mission. We are leaving our church callings that we enjoy, our children, and our sweet little grandchildren, to serve the Lord for 18 months. We look forward to the people we will be working with, and helping. I know we will grow from this experience more than any other we have faced so far. We are relying on the testimony of church leaders who tell us that our families we leave behind will be blessed for our service. Our children and Grandchildren (and parents) are very supportive of our decision to go to Africa and we are thankful for their prayers on our behalf. It has been my dream to serve the saints in Africa and help those who are looking for the truth. We will be serving as Public Affairs Missionaries, helping others to gain greater understanding of the good the LDS Church can bring to a community or area. We will also be working with Humanitarian Aid efforts, which has always been a dream of mine. I am so thankful for the gospel and my tesimony of its truthfulness, that I can serve my Heavenly Father in every way He asks of me.
