Hi I'm Marie

I love music. I LOVE to laugh! I'm a student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college grad who is back in school earning a paralegal certificate. I have an affinity for music and love listening and performing it! I play the piano, flute, and piccolo. I have attempted to play the bassoon and violin but the bassoon always sounded like a dying moose-cow-like creature and the violin and I did not get along. I was in band in high school and have sung in choirs throughout my life. I enjoy cooking and creating things, even though they don't always turn out how I would like them to. As much as I enjoy all of these things, nothing brings me more joy than being around the people I love!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. I have always know that the church is true. The only way I can describe that feeling is by comparing it to the knowledge that the sun will rise each day. When I was in high school, I read the Book of Mormon on my own for the first time. When I finished, I knelt to pray and asked Heavenly Father if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Book of Mormon were true. I felt an overwhelming feeling of peace and joy. That feeling of peace and joy is there every time I read the Book of Mormon. There have been times when I have felt as if the world was crumbling beneath my feet. When that has happened, one simple phrase has sustained me: I am a Child of God. Knowing that I am a daughter of Heavenly Father has been my light when my world was dark. I know that my Heavenly Father knows me by name and loves me, just as He knows and loves all His children.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be in the service of those around me. I have had many opportunities to serve my community with my congregation by participating in anything and everything from graffiti paint outs to beach clean ups and even playing the role of a victim in a CERT training! The church has a worldwide women's organization called Relief Society. Through it, I have been able to help make hand warmers and blankets for cancer patients. I am able to serve those in my congregation as well. Every week I am the organist for our Sunday services. Every congregation has its own Relief Society and I have the privilege of being able to be a part of the four-woman group that forms the leadership of my congregation's Relief Society.

Are Mormons Christians?

Mormons are most definitely Christians! We believe in Jesus Christ and follow His teachings and counsel and try to become more like Him. His name is the focal point of the name of the church: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of my favorite scriptures is found in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ in 2 Nephi 25:26 "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."
