Hi I'm Erik R Jones

Music is my thing, now I'm a missionary, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I've been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for just over two years now, and I am never looking back. My faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ has really made me who I am today. I love music in every form and served as the Choir Director in my congregation for nearly a year. I've studied recording technology and music for two years, but now am taking a two year break to serve a full time mission in the Dallas, Texas area. My mission so far has been a huge blessing in my life, and has begun to teach me how to be better in so many ways, and has prepared me to be the man and father I will need to be. I love every minute of being a missionary, and I have seen many miracles and blessings along the way.

Why I am a Mormon

I know the gospel is for all of God's children across the world. He, today, is still trying to reach us in a thousand different ways, and all we have to do is listen. One of those ways he has given us is The Book of Mormon, which I have read, and I know to be true through prayer. Along with the Bible, I can use it to know that the true church of Jesus Christ has been restored on the earth today with a living day prophet of God. How exciting is that? The LDS faith is a faith that is deep and meaningful. Being a Mormon means I truly believe what I preach. I live it, and love it: the ups and the downs, and all the in betweens, because I know God has a plan that I am living out day by day.

How I live my faith

I'm a missionary! I spend every day, full time, 24/7 teaching to gospel of Jesus Christ and inviting others to come unto him. I know the restored gospel has blessings for every person on this earth, and I daily share my testimony with others in the hope that I can make their lives better in some way. I read, ponder, and pray over the scriptures and the words of the prophets so I can effectively understand them, and later teach them to others.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Erik R Jones
Joseph Smith was a man with a question. As a young man, of 14 years, he truly wanted to know: What is the true church of God, and how can I be saved? With time and careful study of the different religions available to him, he was unable to find one clear answer to his question, until he came across a passage of scripture located in the Bible. James 1:5 states: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God..." and that is exactly what he did. He knelt down and prayed to his Heavenly Father, as every person should do, and asked him to know what was true. His answer came in the form of a heavenly visit of God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, who prepared him to restore the true church of Jesus Christ, exactly as it was in times past. This church was led by a Prophet, a man with priesthood authority, that could reveal the will of God to his people. Joseph Smith was called to be the prophet of this restored church in these last days. His question was answered, and as a result, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was founded on the earth with the keys and authority needed to return to our Father in Heaven.
