Hi I'm Andrew

I'm a Mormon. I am also a father, husband, son, brother and grandson. I work as an engineer at a manufacturing plant.

About Me

Some things that I enjoy doing are playing video games, watching sports (especially college football), building Legos with my son and general playing with my children. I am an electrical engineer and am currently working in the engineering field. I enjoy learning, particularly history. If I was not an engineer then I would most likely be a teacher as I truly enjoy teaching others.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon first by virtue of my parents having joined the church when I was young therefore I grew up in the church. But I have stayed in the church due to my own conversion. This is something that I am extremely proud of in our church. We do not want others to just believe because the faith of someone else. Rather we encourage everyone to gain their own testimony and discover the truth. This way they can walk on their own. When the trials of life happen they have this strength to lean on, this testimony of their own. I also see in this church the complete gospel of Jesus Christ. Here I see that the members are not just asked to do some good but instead are asked to always do good. To always strive to improve themselves in all facets of life. To look out to others and help them in whatever way they can. This truly is the teachings of Christ.

How I live my faith

I have in the past been over the youth program, cub scouts, the Sunday School program, taught adult Sunday School, and served as a councilor (assistant) to our congregations Bishop. I currently have the responsibility of coordinating the missionary efforts in our community. In addition to this responsibility I also have several families that me and another member are asked to look after. These responsibilities are not unique to me as all members are asked to have some specific responsibility and have a couple of families to look after. This way if all is followed properly not only is everyone looked after but everyone has an opportunity to serve.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Andrew
We believe the Bible to be the word of God. A common misunderstanding is that we do not read the Bible or that we have another Bible, the Book of Mormon. This could not be farther from the truth. We do have additional scripture, namely the Book of Mormon, but we are also taught and encouraged to read and study the Bible as it has some of the most powerful teachings from the prophets of God. I personally love to read the Bible especially the stories. I share these stories with my own children. They are also taught in our primary classes to all the children. Stories such as that of Noah and the flood or of Jesus healing the blind or of Peter walking on water to meet Jesus. With that I want to share that I know that the scriptures, particularly the Bible are the word of God. Show more Show less
