Hi I'm Shannon

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! I am convert, I was baptized April 1, 2012! I was born and raised in Reno, NV. I am going to beauty school to become an Aesthetician. I love to spend time with my family and friends, watch movies, cook and bake. I love to go to Aces baseball games when I get a chance and of course I love spending time with my lovely boyfriend!

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up I never had religion in my life, I never prayed and I really didn’t know much of anything about the bible. One day when I was 18, I felt like there was more to my life, there was something missing. For the first time in my life, I prayed. I had no idea what I was saying but I remember asking for something to come my way. A few months later, I met someone (my boyfriend), who happened to be a member of the church. I remember thinking months later, “wow, he must be the answers to my prayers!” But, little did I know there was more to come, and the plan for me was yet finished. Many months later, I have no idea what we were talking about, but the topic of religion was brought up. And it was suggested that maybe I look into religion to find a different kind of happiness. I didn’t tell him this, but in my head I was thinking “yea right.” Months after that, an old friend came back into my life, who happened to be a recent convert into the church. At the time I didn’t know what provoked me(now I know it's the Holy Ghost), but I asked him if he would take me to church that next Sunday. Sunday came and I had no idea what to expect. I was told to go in with an “open mind and open heart,” so I did. It was a fast and testimony Sunday, and I remember sitting there thinking “are these people seriously this happy from a church? There is no way.” My friend kept trying to have me meet with the missionaries, but I was always “busy.” With a lot of persistence I finally gave in. I went back week after week, sometimes twice a week to meet with them. I read the Book of Mormon, and attended some church services. It wasn’t until a few months into my lessons I started coming to church every Sunday, and I noticed I was beginning to have an actual testimony of the truth. I found comfort, happiness and joy in the gospel. 6 months later I was baptized! I couldn't be happier. :)

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday, all 3 hours, when I can. I try to set a good example for those around me by living by the Word of Wisdom and my actions and words are clean.
