Hi I'm Troy Davidson

I grew up in California. I play rugby. I play the Guitar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I am Troy. I'm 23 years old from California and I am a Mormon. I love to play the guitar, the bass, and the trumpet. In high school I was in several different music groups and in several different sports. I played football, I wrestled and I played rugby. Rugby was my favorite, I really learned brotherhood and teamwork through that sport, and it is a great passion for me. I hope to play in college soon. After highschool I worked for a while until I got into college. I took a few semester at a local college and worked in a retirement home for seniors. Like most men at my age I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, So I searched and prayed about what I should do. I wasn't sure if a mission ( Where I serve somewhere in the world as a missionary) was exactly for me. After a long journey I realize more now that I want to share my faith and love of Jesus Christ and serve people. So I am now serving a mission. After I return from my mission I want to go into Law enforcement like the state police or the FBI. I want to protect and serve people. I have 5 brothers and 1 sister of all ages.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for several different reasons. Growing up in the church I never develop my own testimony or faith at a young age like I would have liked. Mostly I understood what my parents taught me about being a good person. Once in high school I struggled to find my identity. I wanted so badly to fit in with those who were around me at times it seemed that I would do anything to fit in and in doing so I lost who I was and I struggled all through high school. After high school I really fought to understand myself so I branched out, more out of the typical rebellious nature of a 19 year old, but I wanted to learn more of what was life was about. By the time I was 20 I wasn't going to church all the time I was miserable. There were times where I would lay in bed at night asking myself who I was? Where am I going? Finally I prayed to know what was the truth and where I could find it. Being a member all my life I knew of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I knew of all the blessings of being a mormon and it means for me to be a child of God. When I finally knelt what seemed like forever I received my answer. In my heart and my mind had an impression for the holy ghost that told me I have known all along. I felt a peace and a comfort that night. I knew what I must do to help me progress to who I wanted to be. With the support of my family and friends I became active in my faith again. Sometimes I wonder why I didn't have some crazy story to share about my love for Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. What I realized was it was always there and that my Heavenly Father was waiting for me always. I knew I was lost and now I am found. I know my savior lives, and that through the Book of Mormon and the bible I have come to understand what our Father in Heaven wants of me and for me. It has been such a blessing in my life to be able be a member of this church and the love I feel from him always. I know I never have to worry about being lost or searching for the truth again I am here.

How I live my faith

In my church I have been called to several different callings. From 12-18 I was a leader at all ages. After high school and I became more active I first became a Sunday School teacher for the 12-13 year old children and then I became Sunday school president at age 23. I was nervous and a little apprehensive for being young and inexperience but it was been such a privledge to work with all the ages from 12 and up. In church I was also a part of the young men's programs like Boy Scouts and some other activities like church dances and summer camps. There I learned so much and the importance of service and learning about our community and the people. I live my faith by following Christ's example. Listening and communicating are essential for me to know where people come from and what they want out of life. My goal in life is to be able to love as Christ did through love, kindness, and understanding. I hope that I can help others come unto Christ as I have. Right now my current calling is being a Missionary. That through serving others I can Invite others to come to Christ. I already in my service have learned so much more and I know I have a lot more to learn and understand. I know I am not perfect I am flaw but it doesn't matter we are all children of our Father in heaven.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Troy Davidson
No not at all it is our choice to go out serve for our Heavenly Father. At times in the church it is strongly encouraged to serve a mission only because they know the joy it brings serving others. A mission is a unique opurtunity that men and women of the church get to paricipate. It is a full dedication for 18 months or 2 years to be able to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to be able to serve others when available. I am able to serve a mission at the age of 23. It took me a few extra years to understand more that I wanted to and why but serving has brought such a great joy in my life. People come from all different areas in life people are unique not only in our eyes but in the eyes of our Savior. He wants to be able to reach outto all those who are willing to listen to Jesus Christ's message. Show more Show less
