Hi I'm Christopher

I'm an economics graduate student. I live in Las Vegas. I'm A Bug Man and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm twenty five years. Recently I became a father of my son with my wife of two years. I'm working on a masters in economics at UNLV. I grew up in Las Vegas and have enjoyed the great diversity of people with who live here. They have broadened my views of what all of the children of our God experience here in mortality. I am a Bug Man by day. For hobbies I read books on economics (of course), other nonfiction (history, philosophy), and for fun I've been getting into a lot of sci-fi. Dr. Who, anybody? I play the piano and dabble on guitar and drums. I also like to go out with my wife hiking in the wonderful desert in which we live. She is from Elko, Nevada. "Home means Nevada, home means the hills, home means the sage and pine...." I guess what motivates me is a good argument. I love pursuing the truth behind things. I believe that people would get along so much better if we were more dedicated in finding out what actually goes on rather than mere perceptions.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in a singular unchanging God. He believe he is the author of our present existence and has an active interest in our futures. He is perfect. He is our Father and loves us perfectly. I believe that there exists universal truths. So much in this life is relative. What is good in one situation may not necessarily be wise in another. Yet I believe once all circumstances are taken into account there is an eternal law that all will agree on that will judge between good and evil. Only a perfect being is capable of this judgement. Because I believe in that our God takes an active role, he must call prophets and organize a religion. The Universe is organized, our Earth is a very well organized in order to sustain billions of sentient human beings. He works with these prophets and reveals his truths. They in turn teach us His plan, and lead us as best as they can (for they are fallible humans too), towards our eternal end. I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ because the doctrines and teachings are so complete. Living by the precepts of this church has filled my life with purpose and happiness. I have not found anything else that compares. Remember, that I love the pursuit of truth. Here is truth that satisfies all the senses, most importantly the spiritual sense. I know that God wants us to find happiness now amidst the injustices of this current existence. It is my hope that after this life through the power of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ all will be made whole.

How I live my faith

First off, I believe. I hold this belief to be the uttermost integral part of who I am. God requires us to live by faith. That's why its a leap as they say. You cannot know for absolute for this is on faith. There is great power in acting only on a belief in God and his teachings. Actively living this faith includes attending church meetings, reading scriptures, prayer, and service to others. At church, I have the responsibility of a financial clerk in our congregation. The funds collected through tithing and fast offering are treated very carefully as many members make great sacrifices to serve the Lord. I do not get paid for it, nor does any of the clergy get paid for any of the work they do. What I do see is that much of the funds are used in the benefit of others. It helps pay for medicines, treatment, rent, food, and clothing of those who are struggling. So many are generous with their offers and I have seen it bless folks who really need it.
