Hi I'm Chase

I'm a Provo, Utah native. I'm a BYU cougar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Michigan to two of the best parents I could ever ask for. I moved to Utah when I was just a baby and have lived here pretty much my whole life with my family. I am the middle child with an older brother and sister and a younger brother and sister. I graduated from Timpview High School in 2012 and I am currently a student at Brigham Young University. I am a huge sports fan-especially BYU! I served a mission for the church in Santa Maria, Brazil, and am now working on getting my associates degree.

Why I am a Mormon

I can honestly say that up until the age of about 15, I was a Mormon because my parents were Mormons. I didn't really believe myself, and was just going off my parents' beliefs. This was about the time one of my family members fell away from the church and I realized I didn't know for myself. I then decided to find out for myself. I read the Book of Mormon, prayed about it and learned all I could about the Gospel. I can't tell you exactly why, but I knew (and still know) it was (and still is) true. I have a testimony that God lives and that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know that through Christ, I can return to live with my Heavenly Father. I have a testimony of the Atonement and know that God loves me. I love music. I think that God speaks to us through good music. These are the lyrics to one of my favorite songs I have sung with my choir. The lyrics are a paraphrase of 2 Nephi 4 by John Tanner. " I love the Lord, in Him my soul delights. Upon His word, I ponder day and night. He’s heard my cry, brought visions to my sleep, And kept me safe o’er deserts and the deep. He’s filled my heart with His consuming love, And borne me high on wings of His great dove. Yet oft I groan, “O wretched man am I” My flesh is weak and I’m encompassed by A world of sin, which holds me in it’s thrall, If I give in and to temptations fall. Then strength grows slack, I waste in sorrow’s vale; My peace destroyed, my enemies prevail. Awake, my soul! No longer droop in sin. Rejoice, my heart! And let me praise again, The Lord my God, who is my rock and stay To keep me strict upon His straight, plain way. Oh let me shake at the first sight of sin And thus escape my foes without and in."

How I live my faith

I recently returned home from service as a full time missionary for this church. I spent two years in Birmingham, Alabama and Santa Maria, Brazil sharing my beliefs with others. I have served in various callings in the past mostly working with the youth of the church. I like going to church each week as well as participating in ward activities and religion classes. I currently work with the youth of the church who are preparing to serve full time missions. I teach a class each Sunday about missionary work and how to share the gospel with others. I would not trade my experience with this church for anything.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Chase
Missionary service is completely optional and voluntary. Young men can begin service at the age of 18 and young women at the age of 19. It is a very personal and important choice, and those who do not serve are not punished or excluded in any way. Show more Show less
