Hi I'm Devan

I love sports. I'm a full time missionary in New Jersey. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I was blessed with great parents who always taught me well. I love playing sports. I played football and basketball in High School and had the opportunity to play football in college, but I turned it down in order to serve a mission. I am now serving in New Jersey as a full time missionary. I love to cook and I love when people cook for me. I love to play the piano, and I love the guitar. I just love music in general! I am a die hard University of Utah Utes fan. Go Utes!

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the church growing up. My parents were great examples to me of faith and perserverance. They taught me well and always instilled in me a great desire to follow Jesus Christ. My conviction of the truthfulness of the gospel came from reading the Book of Mormon, coupled with experiencing the joy that the gospel brings. I lived off of the testimony of my parents for a long time, but there came a point when I had to decide if I was going to follow, or if I was going to do my own thing. And as I read the Book of Mormon, prayed about it, and pondered, the spirit testified to me of the truth. As I thought about it, the thought that came into my head was "How can it not be true?" I have a firm testimony of the church, and I know that it is true. It brings me happiness that can't be matched.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living the very best life I can. Right now, I have given 2 years of my life to the Lord to serve as a full time missionary in the New Jersey Morristown Mission. I have been here since August 2010, working in Plainfield, Newark, Elizabeth, and Passaic New Jersey, helping people to learn about Jesus Christ and grow closwer to him. I was able to take part in a clean up effort after Hurricane Irene hit the East Coast. I love being a Mormon!

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Families are so important to us because we know that God intends for family relationships not only to last for this life, but also for the eternities. In the family, we learn to love and serve each other in a setting that the world just can't offer. Families are meant to be forever. Show more Show less
