Hi I'm Laura

I can't stop smiling,I love road trips and star gazing,l love cupcakes but I love my family more than all the above. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up like most kids. Moved around a bit, played sports, danced, took piano lessons, but never practiced. I love to read almost anything, watch movies if I have any free time, and make wedding cakes with my mom. I love to travel, but my ideal vacation is heading back to my hometown and being with my fam, swimming, hiking, camping, with a deck of rook cards close by. I love going school at Brigham Young University and bleed blue, but right now I am on break doing something better than reading or traveling or playing cards... I am a MISSIONARY!!!! Now what I love is serving the Vietnamese people here in Cambodia and seeing their lives change.

Why I am a Mormon

I guess I consider myself lucky to have been born into a strong, faithful, big, loud, Mormon family! I grew up going to church every week and reading the scriptures and praying with my family everyday. Some people might say I am Mormon out of habit, but I can tell you one thing, it is not habit or easy to live the way God wants us to live. It has to be a little rough or we would never grow! It is not habit, because it is a conscious choice I make everyday because I know there is no way to find more happiness and that is what life is all about, being HAPPY! I would say I was converted when I got into high school. I could really see a difference between me and a lot of my firends. They didn't really seem to know who they were. They didn't have anything solid or real to guide them or help them. They were willing to "try" a lot of stupid things to try and figure it out. I grew up hearing "[You are] a Child of God" from my parents and adult leaders who loved me and cared for me and instead of "trying" to figure it out out, like my friends, I just accepted that "I am a Child of God." I accepted that God is my Father in Heaven. I accepted that if I lived the way he wanted me to, I would have happiness. I accepted what my parents and grandparents and and great-grandparents had done and successfully found happiness.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday. I read the scriptures everyday. I talk to God regularly through prayer. I try to get involved in community service. I go to visit other girls my age who need a friend or are having a hard time to see if I can help. I get together with my family every Monday night to talk about the Jesus Christ and living good lives then we play games and eat treats. Currently I am in Cambodia working the the Vietnamese people that live Phnom Penh. I teach them about Jesus Christ and why he is important. I try to help them have happier families and a more productive fulfilling lives, and it is working! It is the best to be able to help others find happiness and a reason so smile!
