Hi I'm Zac

I love adventure and the outdoors. I love athletics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have just graduated high school, am an eagle scout, and am preparing to serve a mission in Melbourne, Australia. I enjoy doing anything in the outdoors, including wakeboarding, snowboarding, swimming, camping, rock climbing, backpacking, or just sitting in the rain. Although I can't play any instruments and only pretend I can sing, I really enjoy music. I have participated in many sports, although I mostly focused on football and wrestling in high school. I my spare time I go running, watch movies, and mess around with my friends. My family frequently travels for vacation, and I really like meeting people of cultures and languages, as well as attending church in other countries.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and was raised in the standards, but began to question the church and the doctrine as I got older. I knew the church was a good thing, but didn't have a personal belief or testimony any further than that. I began to desire for meaning in my life, and also comfort. I saw others that seemed so happy, and although I wanted to be that happy, I felt I simply wasn't ever good enough to get to know God. My prayers became more and more desperate for answers, and I finally found peace through surrounding my life around Christ. Music, for example, helped my to feel his love through the spirit, and I felt comforted and knew that Christ also recognized I wasn't perfect. I learned that He really did die for me, and that His sacrifice and atonement allows me to be forgiven, to be understood by someone who has felt my sorrows and pains. I learned that I was a Son of God, and that I was expected to not be perfect right now, but to become better and have faith, and to rely on Jesus Christ for that which I could not do. I still mess up a lot, but I can tell that my life is better when I'm trying to be like my savior by serving others and obeying the commandments. The Atonement enables me to be happy, and I know that I will live again after I pass away one day because of my redeemer.

How I live my faith

I have recently decided to go on a two-year mission, and to prepare I am participating in several scripture classes as well as a mission-preparation class to help me better my understanding of scriptures and gospel principles, as well as to build my testimony of Jesus Christ.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Zac
The Atonement was the sacrifice that Jesus Christ paid in order to reclaim all of us from sin and weakness. He suffered for our sins, so that we could overcome our transgressions and weaknesses. It enables Him to give us comfort, and to also give us strength to overcome trials and uncertainty. We are able to be forgiven of our sins because of this perfect Atonement. I don't totally understand how Jesus did this for me, and every other person, but I know that He did this because He loved me, and that I can always use to atonement to become a better man.
