Hi I'm Sokhum

I grow up in Phnum Penh city in Cambodia. I graduated from High School in 2008 and have studied business for 2years. I'm a Mormon

About Me

my personality is that I like helping others, and no matter what it is, I do my best to help them and making people laugh is one of my strength because when I see people laugh or smile, help have the assurance that everything will be fine, even in the very difficult circumstances. During my free times, I like hang out with my family and friends and I like watching movies and playing basketball is one of my favorite activity to do too. I'm single! and I prepare to attend collage next year and I'm going to work hard on it. one of biggest goal is to have more education, so that I can help my family and my future generation. I like business and I also want to be architecture engineer. so,I'm going work on both and see which one I like most! And I love seeing the world in the good way and find out what is the world about. When I was a kid, I'm not that strong and so I always told myself that I can do what others can do too.

Why I am a Mormon

at first, when missionaries came to my house to taught my sister, I'm not really interested in the message that they shared. our family don't have any kind of christian background and because we grew up in the completely difference religion so it's hard for me to accept the practice and concept of God and Jesus Christ. missionaries kept asking me to participate in the lesson and so on for awhile until one day I didn't really want them to feel bad so I started to study more with them. they kept teaching me lessons and then they invited me to get baptized and I can study with but I didn't want get baptized. once, when we talked about Joseph Smith's experience that when he prayed and received the manifestation from heaven, they asked me to do the same thing that I can receive my answer. I decided to prayed and see for myself, the peaceful feeling was overcome me and so it continued to effect me and I get baptized in 2006. Even though, I decided to join the church, but that was just only me and the rest of my family didn't accept the gospel and they became the trail for me later on when I wanted to serve my mission. everybody was completely ignoring me when I told that I wanted to serve a mission for two years. and it was harder because they said would not accepted it and won't let me go my mission. I delayed my request for two years until it came to a point that I must decided to do it or not. I prayed harder and harder asking for direction and finally my faith built stronger because of my friend at church do all he can to serve his mission and to do good to people even it's hard for him and having the courage to talked to my family again and even though I don't have their support. they agreed later on and my mum join the church too. I know it always a time and a place for everything to happen.

How I live my faith

I go to church every week and participate in all church activities and fulfill the calling. I go to institute classes to study the gospel and I help the missionary as much as possible, so that I can learn and bearing testimony to people help me build my faith from time to time. beside doing church activities, I go to school and do assignment from my teacher and hang out with my friend and I always invite everyone to hear the message and bring them to church and so that they can feel the closer relationship with the church members. Also I help my dad make clothes and help him with his work and show good example for my neighbors and family. I do everything that my mum need me to do, such as help her prepare food, cut grass in the front yard or cleaning the roof. when I first join the church it's hard for me to keep all the commandments and show my faith because everyone here are not christian but as I continue to live my faith and continue to do what is right, I see that people started to change their mind about christian and about the church. people started to look up to me and my family a lot because we started to be more happier everyday.
