Hi I'm Laura

I'm a Mormon. I enjoy spending time with family and learning new things.

About Me

I am the youngest of 5 children. I have 5 nieces and 4 nephews and I love them all. My family is very important to me. I enjoy spending time with them when I can. We do a lot together. I'm currently in college but unsure of my exact major. I want to be able to help people live better lives. I would like to work with the younger generations but I don't want to teach a subject. However, I do admire teachers for their hard work. Outside of going to school, I enjoy doing things outside when it isn't too humid. I enjoy rock climbing and kayaking the most. I like trying new things and over coming fears, although it is hard and scary at times. I do not want to be held back by fear but pushed forward with hope.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up going to church with my family. As a child I do not think I really understood what I was being taught but I always felt loved and excepted there. As I grew into my teenage years I started to wonder why it was so important to my parents to go to church everyday. I had been taught as a child that if I prayed, God, my Heavenly Father, would answer my prayers because He loves me. I knew that if that was true than I could pray and find guidance. So I prayed and asked if God was there and if He did love me. I prayed every morning and every night waiting for my answer. One morning, after I had said my prayer I felt a great love from Heavenly Father. It isn't easy to discrib but I knew as I know now that He does love me and He wants what is best for me. So, since then I have asked Him to guide me.

How I live my faith

As a Christian I try and live my faith by showing Christ like love for others. I try to see others as Christ would see them. He loved everyone. I have taught young children in the church and young adults. I enjoy teaching Sunday School. It is a great way for me to improve my own understanding of the gospel of Christ. In the passed I have helped plan events for youth and for young single adults. I also try as surve people outside of my church because Christ did the same. He taught anyone who would listen. I have enjoyed volenting with different groups in my community.

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Laura
Every Sunday we attend church at our church buildings. They are dedicated for worship, they are also sacred places. These are places of worship that can be found all over the world. Any one and everyone is welcome to come and worship with us. On Sunday we can strengthen one another as we worship together. Here we have primary for the young children and sunday school to learn about the teachings of Jesus Christ. The Temples are a little different. They are also dedicated for worship and are also sacred placed. However, these are for more individual worship and each of us need to prepare to go to the Temple to make promises with God. We need to be worthy to enter and ready to make these promises. Everyone is invited to go. Before a Temple is dedicated, there is an open house for everyone to go inside and see it.
