Hi I'm Laura

I love life. I love to laugh.I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of six in my family, and I absolutely love it. Being around my family is one of my most favorite things to do -- as well as watching movies, reading, hiking, laughing, and laying in the sun. My two dogs -- Sophie and T-Rex -- are the cutest dogs in the world. No, really, the cutest.oh, I also love Shakira, dinosaurs, and eating candy! Right now, I am a missionary in Taiwan for 18 months. After my mission I'll continue my studies at BYU -- hopefully graduating with a major in International Relations with a minor in International Development. My goal in life is to travel the world and truly experience different cultures while helping people have a better life (plus having a wonderful family, of course!). I am just a fun-loving girl who loves being a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I simply know this church to be true. I've been taught LDS gospel growing up, so it's always been a part of me, but I really gained my own testimony when I entered the lovely teenage years. Every teenager goes through the struggle of finding out who they are and what they believe in: I was no different. While I wasn't rebellious or doubtful, I just decided that I needed to truly kneel in prayer and ask my Heavenly Father if what I had been taught all my life was indeed true. I remember I was 15, and living away from my family to attend a performing arts high school. I had just finished the Book of Mormon and decided to actually ask if "these things are not true" (Moroni 10:5). So I went into my closet (I felt I needed some privacy..) and amidst shoes and hanging clothes, I knelt down and prayed to my Heavenly Father. I have never felt His Spirit so strongly. As I asked if the Book of Mormon was true, I was filled with such a warm, strong feeling that it was true. I felt so humbled and grateful that I received such a clear answer: the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that to be true. As I have continued to study the scriptures, my testimony has grown since that night in my closet. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and thus that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know that anyone can receive an answer in they ask with sincerity. I am a mormon because I felt the Holy Ghost testify that it is true, and I love it!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trusting in God and loving life. My life, like everyone's life, has been spotted with challenges. I've also had lots of great times, full of happiness and joy. During the good and the bad, I just try to trust God and live His commandments: to serve others, to be happy, to do good. I live my faith by finding joy in everything -- by pressing forward during times of struggles and really find the lovely things in life that provide so much joy.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Laura
No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. We only worship God, the Eternal Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. While Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and did many great things, we do not worship him. We respect him, honor him, and proclaim him, but we do not worship him. Show more Show less
