Hi I'm Joni Nessen

I'm a Mormon. 50 years old from small town UTAH! Single grandma of 3! I love my Savior Jesus Christ and will tell the world of Him

About Me

I was a little girl with a great and huge love for my family and friends. I wonder why I seem to go to extremes when it comes to being happy, or cheerful. Sometimes my excitement for life is so big that it can overwhelm people.(Which is not what I want to do!) I guess you could say I have a dramatic or dynamic personality. At 51 I have learned a lot and have become a grandmother of three! I also have a great love and testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ and my Father in Heaven! I belong to a wonderful ward and close knit community. I am a people person and make friends easily and enjoy all different types of personalities and getting to know people. We learn so much about others when we forget judgement and find the inner goodness of a soul. We are all connected here on this big beautiful planet of ours and my sincere desire and wish of my heart would be to live in unity in a Utopian society like the city of Enoch written of in the Bible! I love the life and teachings of the Savior in the King James version of the Bible and Book of Mormon. They work hand in hand and are true! I bear my witness to you that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true gospel of Him who bears it's name! If you will read it and ask God for His confirmation you will feel it in your heart and mind and know of assurity it is true! just as I learned for myself so can you! We are lead by a living prophet who holds the Priesthood of God.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active Latter Day Saint family in a small town in Utah in the United States of America. I feel blessed in many ways to have a great family with a love for the gospel of Jesus Christ! I have heard it said that our trials will either draw us closer to God or pull us further away. I went through a breif period of my teenage years when my faith was challenged and I became semi-inactive. Mostly because I had a lot of fears and anxieties about not being liked by some people and wanting to be popular and accepted by almost EVERYONE! I didn't know then that that is an impossibility! I spent most of my time and energy trying to please everyone. Sadly I suffered for it as many have and will in this life! If I had only known now what I do then and been trying to please my Father in Heaven and not fearing what man could or would do or say. These experiences though have shaped and strengthened me into a happier, more confident individual, wife and mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and friend! I have much to be grateful for and count myself lucky to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Unfortunatley I remember times in my life when my testimony had been challenged and I did not rise to the occasion as I would of liked to. Looking back can only cause heart ache if we don't learn from our mistakes, forgive ourselves and move ahead. Remorse and regret can be good teachers, however we do not want to remain in that state or our health and hearts will suffer. Because I learned how to use the gift of the atonement later in life I can turn trials into strengths by turning then over to Jesus. He is the only one who is equipped to handle them and take them literally from the suffering soul. I would be miserable without His perfect, immeasurable love!! No sorrow is to deep, no trial to hard that it cannot be healed with His atoning sacrafice. Please don't just take my word for it! Go! Read the Book of Mormon! Find the missionaries and learn!

How I live my faith

I am the 1st counselor in the Primary which is serving the youth of the church. We have over 60 little children in our ward (or sect or whatever you may call it! I love each one of them and even though teaching energetic, and sometimes noisy children can be overwhelming, it has been a great blessing to me! It is a priviledge to teach our Heavenly Fathers children and a great responsibility. They are so innocent and tender one minute and chattering and giggling the next. I love serving in the different auxillaries of the church. I was our ward camp director and assistant camp director for many years with the Young Women. I also served as our ward Sunday School Secretary. Also served as the Relief Society activity director which is with the women of the church and a youth Sunday School teacher too. Primary is for children 3 to 11 and Sunday School is for children 12 to 18. Many years of growing and learning in the church and sharing my testimony and knowledge with others is a sometimes intimidating responsibility but I love how the church is organized and we all have opportunities to learn and grow no matter what stage of life we are in! I have a testimony that if we are obedient to His gentle commandments and serve Him we are promised to live with our Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ again. One of my favorite quotes from an apostle in our church is by Elder Neal A. Maxwell. It is, "If you have not chosen the Kingdom of God first in your life, It will make no difference what you have chosen instead." My life has been full and rich in many ways because of the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know for a fact that without it my life would be miserable and not have much meaning. Thank you for the opportunity to express my testimony and may I challenge you to read the Book of Mormon for yourself and pray for your own confirmation and witness of the Holy Spirit. Sincerely Joni
