Hi I'm Johnny Thomas

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a happy father of 6 kids with a beautiful wife in Pleasant Grove, Utah. We are pretty busy with the kids but it keeps us young and happy. I've been self-employed for 12+ years in the financial world; I love coaching people to help them with their finances. I love to hike with my family, play guitar, watch BYU and Utah Jazz games and enjoy life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was LDS, but I was always one of those types that had to know for myself. I think when we all hit our teenage years we start to learn about ourselves, which lead me to want to know more about who I am, why I'm here on Earth and where I'll be going when I die. I believed what I had learned in church about Christ and His mission and role in my life, but I still needed to know. I took a challenge and read the Book of Mormon when I was about 12, and like it asks me to do in Moroni 10:4, I asked God if it was true. Do you know what happened? Nothing! I struggled and struggled to find out the truth and kept reading, and several months later I felt I was at the bottom of the well spiritually and I let my Heavenly Father know I needed Him now and I needed to know. I'll never forget the feeling of peace that came over me one night as I knelt by my bed, and a whisper in my mind said "it's true, go back to bed." I knew at that very moment that the Book of Mormon was a true witness of Jesus Christ, and that He is the veritable Son of God who came to save us from death and sin. I could no longer doubt. My testimony has grown over all these years (I'm only 35, not that old :), but I still reflect on that night very fondly. I have come to know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of Christ on this Earth, and that abiding by the laws and ordinances of the Church of Christ we can come back into the presence of the Father and the Son and live eternally with our families. I know that as surely as I know the sun shines, as surely as I know I exist. I know God lives! I know Jesus Christ died for me, but more importantly was resurrected for me so that I can live too!

How I live my faith

I live so that my children can say of me, "he loves me, no matter what, my dad loves me." I live so that my wife knows that I think of her as having divinity innate in her. I live a life of repentance, because I am so far from perfect I feel lost at times, but I have never lost the knowledge that when I am lost in a world of temptation or problems, the solution is only as far away as your knees from the floor. I kneel and pray and move on, always looking on the bright side of life. I wish I could humble myself more and be more full of service, but I try to serve others as much as I can. Love, love is the answer.
