Hi I'm Emily

I am a college student. I love language and music. I am an avid adventurer. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Arizona, so I have become accustomed to summer heat! I am the youngest of a family of six, including my twin sister. I love hiking, biking, running, and any other activity that gets me up and moving. I also love the arts, like piano, drawing, and performance. I am a licensed cosmetologist and a college student aspiring to become a speech pathologist! I am a 'soon to be' missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Houston, Texas.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up as a Mormon, I came to many points in my life where I had to decide for myself whether or not I would continue to live in the faith; did I really believe it was true. I decided to seek for my own confirmation of the principles and doctrine that I had grown up learning. As I started seeking to gain my own testimony, I began one thing at a time. I knew I could not expect to receive a witness without doing my part, so I started by reading the Book of Mormon daily. At the end of each study session, I prayed that I could know in my heart whether or not it was true. As I read the Book of Mormon, I felt peace in my heart, comfort, and felt I had a stronger relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. As I prayed, I felt warmth wash over me, and felt an overwhelming happiness, and I knew it was true. Similarly, I gained testimony of every other key point of doctrine, and I can testify that it is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I know that the Lord gives us a prophet in our day and age, just as He did in times of old. I know that families are eternal, and that in the temple they can be sealed together. I implore you, to gain your own witness of these things, and seek to find the same truth I have. The Lord loves each one of us, and will help us when we seek to know His will.

How I live my faith

As a mormon college student, I live a very different lifestyle than the typical college student. I attend church every Sunday, and have been given responsibility to watch over and care for other students in my area. My goal is to help meet their needs through helping them develop a relationship with Jesus Christ. I love how I am able to develop a genuine friendship with these members in my area! In this church, everyone is accounted for! No one is forgotten whether it's the widow down the street, or the busy father of five. All are as equally valuable to Heavenly Father.
