Hi I'm Steve Streeter

After I married my sweetheart, she helped me find the source of her faith, and now I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired architect and planner, a profession which gave me much to enjoy as I worked to identify solutions and strategies for success. I have five children and ten grandchildren, most of which live close by, so often Sunday dinner is busy, noisy, and filled with love. I enjoy working on projects at home, and spending time with family, and helping in the Church. I read a little, exercise a little less than I should, but am healthy and happy for the love and kindness of my loved ones and neighbors. This summer we will fulfill a longtime goal by serving a mission for the LDS Church. My wife and I will serve in New Zealand for about 2 years. We will miss our family, but we have their full support as we go out to serve in response to a call from the living prophet, Thomas S. Monson.

Why I am a Mormon

I was not born a Mormon, but when I learned about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, I prayed to know if they were true. It took a little time, but the Spirit whispered to me and I could not deny I knew that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon is scripture. It was then that I accepted an invitation to be baptized and become a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That was over 40 years ago, and I am so grateful to have found His Church. Since finding the LDS Church, I have always felt that it is what people pray for everyday. It teaches as the Savior taught, and most of its members live as He encouraged them to. The LDS Church truly "walks the talk" in its kindness, compassion, and teachings. I know that Heavenly Father is pleased everyday that one of His children accepts the Gospel and is baptized into His Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

Since I joined the LDS Church, I have always been active. That is, I attend worship services each week and have accepted calls to serve in a variety of ways. For the past three years, we have been assigned to help in a nearby ward. It is fun to be part of helping several families and learn more about how we can provide encouragement and support. At other times, I have been called to teach in church meetings and have served in some church leadership positions. As a husband and father, I have been honored to give blessings to my family from time to time. My wife and I enjoy having prayer and scripture study together every day.
