Hi I'm Jesse Gurvine

Currently, I am full-time missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Oregon Eugene Mission.

About Me

I used to live in Tucson Arizona before I set out on a two year mission and ended up in Eugene Oregon. I love to run, bike and swim as well as hike and sit down with a good book. Drawing is a hobby, as well as sewing and writing stories. I like to imagine up stories with depth and character, people and places that help teach lessons about life. I love serving my fellow humans out here in Oregon. I love to see the bright change that comes over people as the light of Christ touches their lives. I've seen miracles. I know you will see them as you accept the message Christ once gave some future disciples, that being, "come and see!"

Why I am a Mormon

I belong, and choose to forever remain to belong, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, because I have personally taken the challenge in Moroni 10:4-5 to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. I may have been born in this church, but believe it or not, each one of us has to gain our own divine witness of the truthfulness of these things. That witness comes from God when we put enough faith in Him to know that when we read and pray about His Word, even the Bible and Book of Mormon, that we will gain a witness. Honestly, this can sound fantastic and rather like fooling oneself into believing, but I testify to you with all my soul that this is the true Church of God upon the earth today, and that there is no other name or way given under heaven whereby salvation may be obtained. I would ask you to take up the promise in Moroni 10 and see the blessings roll forth like thunder.

How I live my faith

Each day I wake up at 6;00 am and get ready for the day. By eight my missionary companion and I are studying the scriptures, namely the Book of Mormon and Bible, and preparing the lessons we will teach throughout the day. I spend my day knocking on doors and feeling the unwarranted wrath, as well as unending kindness, of strangers. "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ..." (2 Nephi 25:26) I'v worn out multiple pairs of shoes, pants, suits, and ties. Regardless of all those things, and many more, I love to be out here, serving others. We learn from King Benjamin in the Book of Mormon that, 'when we are in the service of our fellow beings, we are only in the service of our God.' I know that this is true!
