Hi I'm Blake

I was born and raised in Idaho. I'm serving in the Mexico Tuxtla Gutierrez Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In high school I pole vaulted on the track and field team. I was injured my senior year and I still wish to continue in college. I was the valedictorian of a class of 99 students and I decided a long time ago that I was going to serve a mision before I went to college. Up until my mission I worked on a ranch and I've been around farms pretty much my whole life. I loved being in the valley and seeing mountains in the distance all of the way around me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church and haven't had really any experiences in other churches. I have friends that aren't members that always thought the idea of me paying to serve a mission was strange, because they always thought that the church would pay me to do it. As I said I was born into the church and so I never had much of a testimony growing up. It wasn't until I got hurt one week before the district championship track meet that things really started to change. My last two opportunities in pole vault were taken from me when in practice, while I was working with a heavier pole that I needed to achieve my goal, I failed to go past center and the pole came out of the box and I fell from about 13 or 14 feet into box. This tore the MCL in my left knee and I was out for the rest of the season. This tore me up inside, up until now I had never worked so hard for something and didn't even get a chance to fail, just to put it into perspective. I felt like I was alone. The only person I knew that would know what I was feeling was serving a mission at the time. It was about six months later and I remembered Alma 7:11-13 which says that Christ suffered for the pains and infirmities of his people so that he would know how to help them. So this whole time he was right beside me and I didn't care to notice. I know this gospel is true. I know Jesus Christ knows us. I know that He lives.

How I live my faith

Right now I am living my faith and showing my devotion by serving a mission for the person that has helped me the most. I am living my faith by wearing his name and being a representative of him, Jesus Christ.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries will share a message that can change the life of any person that listens to, and apllies it in their own life. A message about the love that God has for all of His children, whoever they are, and wherever they live. A message about how He has called a living prophet in these days to lead and guide us through this world that is ever changing. A message that I know is true and that I have personally seen change lives. Show more Show less
