Hi I'm Sierra

I have lived in the same place my entire life. I love the snow. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Fun Facts: 1. I played on BYU's Ultimate Frisbee women's team. 2. I have studied Spanish, German, French, and Swahili. I am currently studying Czech, and I love learning foreign languages. 3. I love animals. I grew up around chickens, horses, dogs, and fish (in a tank). 4. I once memorized over 200 digits of pi just for fun. 5. One of my brothers was adopted when he was an adult. 6. I have a scar from flying a kite. 7. I am left-handed. 8. One time, I started cooking different meals from countries around the world using the alphabet. The first meal I cooked was with a country that started with an A, then a B, and so on. I got stuck on East Timor because I couldn't decide which dish to make. Maybe one day, I'll start up again. 9. I love the stars. Where I grew up, the night sky was full of thousands of stars. I miss them whenever I am in the city, but sometimes I count the stars because each one is a blessing. 10. I love being barefoot. If I could, I would probably go barefoot everywhere, except for maybe during the cold part of winter and the hot part of summer.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My parents are both members. I am so grateful for the gospel in my life. I'm not quite sure when I gained a testimony, but I think it was just through the little things I saw in my life. I am so grateful for all my Father in Heaven has blessed me with. I know I belong to his true church, and I know he loves me. He allowed me to come and live on this beautiful earth. The gospel means so much to me. It give me hope, and it helps me to be a better person. I wouldn't be who I was today if I didn't have the gospel in my life. I know the scriptures are true, and I know I can feel the spirit when I am reading them. The stories in the scriptures inspire me to be a better person. I am so grateful for music and the spirit I feel when I sing hymns. I know that Jesus Christ suffered for my sins, and I am grateful for the precious gift he gave me. He knows what I am going through and he can help me to be forgiven of my sins.

How I live my faith

I read the scriptures every day, and I go to the LDS temple every Thursday. I try to be a good example to others around me. I always try to make the right decisions. I have set very high standards, and I try to live how God would want me to live. I attend church every Sunday. I participate in indexing census records for FamilySearch Indexing, and I have almost become addicted to indexing. It is relaxing and fun. I do my best to obey my parents and be kind to others.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Sierra
We try to live as the Savior did. He is the perfect example, so we try to follow him. We go to church each Sunday so we can learn how to improve ourselves and be more like Jesus. We try to help others and serve others because that is what our Savior did when he was on this earth. We aren't perfect, and we slip up sometimes, but we do the best we can to be the best we can. What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Sierra
Reading the scriptures each day helps remind me what I need to do in my life. Reading also helps me grow closer to my Savior as I come to learn more about him and how he lived his life. It helps me stay on track and become closer to being the person I want to be. Without the scriptures I would not be who I am today. They teach me so many things, not just about the church, but they teach me about myself and what I need to work on. They help remind me of my ultimate goal, returning to live with my Father in Heaven. Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Sierra
No one is perfect. We all make mistakes and do things we wish we hadn't. Without Jesus Christ as our Savior we could not erase those mistakes. We may be able to get past them, but they will still be there. Only through Jesus Christ and the atonement can we repent and become clean again. No matter how hard we try we sometimes slip. Jesus makes it possible for us to be forgiven and one day return to live with our Father in Heaven. Without him and his sacrifice it wouldn't be possible. Show more Show less
