Hi I'm Scott Richards

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a married, semi-retired father of nine children ranging from 18 to 33 years old. Having nine children even though they are grown keeps me busy. 7 of my 9 children live in the same area and I get to stay involved in their adult lives and enjoy my 10 grandchildren. I'm a home improvement enthusiast and love to restore, repair or improve things such as bicycles, antiques or home projects. It is a joy to give some object new life by using tools and techniques acquired over the years. I also love to travel and have had the opportunity to see many parts of the United States from the seat of a bicycle. I have been able to go out and tour on my bicycle and experience the best that the United States has to offer. I have ridden the northern half of the west coast and from New York City to Omaha, Nebraska. There is no better way to experience the goodness of people and grandeur of places than by intereacting with them one on one. Many people think I am crazy for having nine children and I would agree that it is not for the faint of heart. The challenges are great but the blessings and memories are greater.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised in the LDS faith. On my fathers side, my ancestors were among the first members of the church and have sacrificed much in keeping their faith. My maternal grandfather joined the church in England and emigrated as a young man to the United States when disowned by his family for his religious beliefs. My wife was disowned from her family for joining the church as a young adult. I have not been so challenged as them in these modern times. There are still challenges in adhering to God's teachings and precepts when the world has generally turned away from the truth. I believe that this church is the Lords church and he communicates his will to us through his prophets. It is comforting to realize that the Lord loves us enough to give us guidance in these latter days so that we can return to life with him.

How I live my faith

I have one of the best callings in the Church. I work in the media center in our local church. I get to interact with the other members in fulfilling their needs for pictures, videos and documents.
