Hi I'm Jared M. Johnson

I challenge everything in an effort to be deliberate with my thoughts & actions - and I'm a Mormon (Christian).

About Me

On a spec sheet, I would read as a religious and emotional husband, father of five children, entrepreneur and online marketer, MBA student and fluent Italian speaker from southern California who is nearly six feet tall with brown hair and blue eyes. Additionally, I have the following interests: - Sports: soccer (futbol), cycling (MTB & Road), MMA (mixed martial arts), disc golf - Recreation: street motorcycles, camping, hiking, RVing, anything with family, almost anything outdoors - Musical Instruments: acoustic guitar and piano (both for musical composition) - Reading: self-help, motivational, spiritual, American classics, African literature - Writing: poetry, short fiction, Mormon-Christian apologetics - Intellectual Pursuits: human brain, psychology of choice, TED.com Off the spec sheet I am likely all that wrapped up in an emotionally and intellectually complex package brimming with desire to learn and grow. Although many who know me probably consider me to be extroverted because I am comfortable with public speaking, I am dominantly introverted. Typically I am uncomfortable in most social situations, preferring smaller, more intimate groups and relationships. Naturally I am a relater - a curious one, perhaps.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always wanted to believe that life should be simple, even if it isn't easy. However many things in life fail to provide a logical basis for why they are what they are. Life's most meaningful decisions are often the most challenging and uncertain, but they are often also the hinges upon which our lives turn. I am a Mormon in the face of social opposition because there is simply nothing like the quieting, calming feeling of the Spirit that I feel and experience associated with this Church and the relationship it has helped me to develop with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The difference between self-directed decision-making in life and decisions made with the influence of the Holy Ghost is incomparable. Set aside the misconceptions and misrepresentations to uncover a wealth of Christian truth and spiritual perspective.

How I live my faith

Currently I contribute my time to the Church by acting as one of two Counselors to the Bishop, or lead clergy member for a local congregation worshippers. Counselors to the Bishop assist with both ministering (spiritual) and administering (clerical) aspects of successfully running local congregations. Whether providing counsel to couples, individuals or groups, coordinating the fulfillment of other Church responsibilities, or assigning worship service topics to willing speakers, I genuinely feel it a blessing to serve the community and Church membership in such a capacity. Sure there is sacrifice, but I appreciate a faith that prompts additional sacrifice and service than I would reach out to give otherwise; just due to the business of daily life with little to no room for externalities. Of course all local leadership is by assignment on a volunteer basis without compensation.
