Hi I'm Ric Wilcox

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City Utah USA. My ancestors came across the plains with the pioneers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have 9 children, and 23 grandchildren. I have been married for 37 years and still enjoying it. I enjoy acting in community theater, going to the theater, college football and basketball and playing disc golf. I am retired and working full time again. I was a high school basketball and volleyball referee, served a church mission to Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama. Went to some college at BYU and belong to the BYU Cougar Club, a booster organization. I am the second of five children and grew up in Salt Lake City. I enjoy indexing, movies, and trips to fun places. I love to read mysteries, fantasies, adventure books, and most anything with a cover and pages inside.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon, and went through a time when I needed to know for myself that the church was true. I was in my first year in college, and coming up to the time when I would be able to serve a mission, and I did not know what I should do with my life. I prayed and decided to have a patriarchal blessing, (a blessing that helps give direction to your life), and knew that I needed to serve a mission to give back to my Lord for all the help and blessings that I have received from Him. I was called to the Southern States Mission and served from 1970-72 and came home from the Georgia/South Carolina Mission. I grew to love the people in the South, and the friends that I made there. There was a video that we showed alot on my mission that strengthened my testimony due to helping answer the 3 main questions that I had in life. Where did I come from, why and I here, and where do I go after I die. The knowledge that we are all children of a Loving Heavenly Father, created in His image, and that he wanted us all to have what He has, and creating a world where we could come and experience for ourselves what it is like to have a body and experience joy and sorrow, and learn from our experiences what we need to return to live with Him someday. This is the gospel of Jesus Christ, and He has shown us what we need to do to return to live with him someday; He gave us the example and what we need to do, repent, be baptized, live a good life, helping others, experiencing pain and sorrow and helping each other. This is truly God's plan for us on the earth. His church is on the earth again with living apostles and prophets and the power to act in his name is here again. I know it is true.

How I live my faith

I have spent much of my adult life working with the youth from 10 years of age to 18 in the various scouting programs, from webelos to boy scouts. I have seen 3 of my boys attain the rank of Eagle whereas I only made it to 2nd Class Scout. I have enjoyed working in service projects from cleaning up yards, painting for National Forest organizations, building campgrounds to helping neighbors with repairs around their homes (as long as they are not too technical). I love to sing and have been in musical theater and singing in melodramas to even singing in the same seats as the famed Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City Utah.
