Hi I'm Steve Downs

I am a Music playin', Spanish speakin', Gospel lovin', Cancer survivin' Idahoan (Texan at heart) & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love anything that has to do with music. I play the piano, trumpet, baritone, I sing, and I write music. I am from "Mormon-ville" aka. Rexburg, Idaho. I have the most amazing family in the world whom I love and cherish. I attended Utah State University before my mission and plan to return and study to become a Physician Assistant in Oncology. Why? When I was three years old, I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Ever since, I have always felt a really close bond to all who suffer with this disease and want to help. I am now 20 years old, cancer free, and serving a mission in San Antonio Texas speaking Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church so I don't have any cool conversion stories. BUT through prayer, scripture study, and the example of my parents, I have a strong testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the ONLY true church on the earth. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the father and His son Jesus Christ that spring morning in 1820. I know with all my heart that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and that the things it teaches are all true and esstial for us to know for salvation. I know that our Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers. Maybe not right when we would like but, when He knows it is the right time. I have a firm testimony in the Plan of Salvation. That because of this plan, it is made possible for us to return to live with our Heavenly Father and with our families for all of eternity. I am extremely grateful for the role that the Atonement of Jesus Christ has in my life. I know that through the Atonement we can be forgiven for all our sins. One of the most comforting thoughts for me is that Christ knows EXACTLY what we are going through and EXACTLY how to help us. WE ARE NEVER ALONE as long as we are constantly striving to have the Spirit with us. Through the Atonement, I have also come to know that we can recieve the strength that we need to keep pressing forward and overcome our trials. I am grateful for my family, for the love, support, and blessing they are in my life. For me, that shows just how much my Heavenly Father knows me because I couldn't ask for a better family. I know that God calls prophets today to lead and kind His church and His prophet in our day is Thomas S. Monson. I know that him and all of his apostles are men called of God and they recieve the things that God wants for us. They truly are our watchmen. I know these things to be true and say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I have always tried to live my faith through my actions. I am a strong believer in the fact that there is ALWAYS someone watching and if they were to see me doing something that wasn''t in harmony with the gospel and followed that example, I would be in trouble come Judgement day. I have two younger brothers that are preparing for missions and I want to be the best example I can for them and also the friends I have that are not of my faith. Where I am so involved in music, I put on a lot of concerts every chance I get and have made it a goal to bring the Spirit to my audience through my music. I believe that music is a VERY powerful tool and it is used to bring the Spirit of God or the Spirit of the Devil. Overall, I have always tried my best to build others up, become friends with anyone I meet, and be the best example I can be to others.
