Hi I'm Liz

I like hugs, sweet potato fries, and Hello Kitty. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm Liz! I recently graduated with my Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and currently work at a local hospital as a Speech Pathologist working with stroke patients. I also have a part time job as a direct support professional working with developmentally disabled children and adults. I absolutely love it!!! I currently live at home. I can't afford to live anywhere else (thanks student loans!) I have the BEST mom in the world who dedicates her ENTIRE LIFE to service despite her multiple illnesses. She is a wonderful example to me! I have a biological sister who is 21. I also have a 12-year-old sister who we adopted at 6 months old. She has developmental disabilities which cause her to function at like a 2-year-old level, but I love her soooo much! Everyday she wakes up happy and full of life! She never fails to manage to put a smile on my face, no matter how grumpy I am. We also have two other individuals with disabilities who live with us. Needless to say, there is NEVER a dull moment at my house! My family means so much to me! I find that the best times I have are those spent with my family and friends! I also love to hike and explore nature! But I am equally content having a lazy day in, curling up on the couch reading a good book or watching a good movie! I also have a passion for music. I love to sing! I also play the piano and am attempting to teach myself guitar (and by play guitar I mean strum a couple of chords and hope it sounds like a song! haha)

Why I am a Mormon

As I have already mentioned, I am soooo grateful for the gospel. I was born and raised in the church and I have nooo idea where I would be without it! My parents are both converts. My mom joined the church with her mother when she was 8 years old and my dad joined the church when I was three years old. I have such a strong testimony of the church and it's doctrine. I know that Joseph Smith was prophet of God who restored Christ’s church to this church today and I'm grateful for all that he endured to make it possible. I’m grateful for the scriptures that bring the spirit into my life daily and I know in them are many truths which have the answers to all of our questions if we just seek them. I know that Thomas S. Monson is truly a prophet of God who leads and guides us in these latter days through modern revelation. My most profound gratitude is for my Savior—an obedient Son, who did all that His Father asked and atoned for every one of us. He is my Savior, my Redeemer, my brother, and my best friend. Words cannot express the eternal gratitude I have for Him. I know that He lives and as I remember Him and acknowledge His goodness, I desire to be like Him.

How I live my faith

I attend a small branch in upstate New York who's congregation averages around 40-50 people every Sunday. My sister and I were the only members at my school growing up, which means plenty of opportunities for missionary work! I am currently the 1st counselor in the Young Women's Presidency! This calling has helped me to truly know that callings are blessings in disguise given from our Heavenly Father to humble us and help us grow. I honestly believe that the lessons I give on Sunday are meant just for me and I sometimes think I get even more out of them than my young women! haha. Although I absolutely love my job as a Speech Pathologist, I have been seriously considering serving a full-time mission for the church! I love the gospel soooo much! It brings countless and ever-increasing blessings and joy to my life and I want nothing more than to be able to share this most blessed gift I have with others! Sometimes I wish I could just rip open people's hearts and pour the gospel in to make them understand what they're missing! But since I do not have the means of doing so, I figure serving a mission is the next best thing! I am excited to find out where the Lord will send me and I cannot wait to share His message and His eternal love for each of His children!!!
