Hi I'm Ellen

I'm a stay-at-home Mom. I have 5 kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music; I sing, play the violin, and the piano (though not all of them well...). I've been married 10 years and I stay at home to take care of our five children. I love to read, play on the computer with Photoshop, swim, and make new crafts for my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have always been a member of the Mormon church, I believe everyone has to have their own personal conversion. I have been on my knees, seeking an answer to that prayer of, "Is this church true? Will it make me happy?" And I have received that answer in my heart. This is the true church of God, and the principles taught within it will and have given me so much happiness. They have taught me that I can be with my family forever, and that's something that gives me so much peace and hope. Why cultivate loving relationships with those around me if, in the end, I'm going to lose them and never see them again? That just wouldn't make sense to me. I love knowing that I can make mistakes and gain forgiveness for them, and in the process, become a better person. And I love being able to teach my children that they have a Father in Heaven who loves them so much, and a Brother who gave his life that they could return to live with Him in heaven one day. I won't lose my family at death; I will be with them forever. What knowledge could be better?

How I live my faith

I teach the primary children in church. Every Sunday, I have the opportunity to look into those innocent and pure faces and try and teach them how much they are loved. We aren't discussing deep doctrine; we are teaching the basics. Heavenly Father loves you. Jesus Christ is our Savior and He gave His life so we all could return to our Father in Heaven one day. We can gain forgiveness for our sins, and one day be perfect. We need to be kind to each other, and be obedient to the laws of God and man. I like being reminded of the basics so often. It seems that we forget the little stuff all too often. I'm grateful for my calling and the opportunity I have to share my testimony and my love with the children in my ward.

What is being a Mormon like?

Ellen
I think being a Mormon is like being most everyone else. We're all trying to attain the same things. We all want a happy family and to live in peace with those we love. The gospel of Jesus Christ allows us to focus on those things. We try and cultivate healthy minds, bodies, and spirits, so we are encouraged to learn as much as we can, to avoid abusive and addictive substances, and to pray, read the scriptures, and attend church meetings often. We try to live clean lives, or lives that are in harmony with Jesus Christ and his teachings. Show more Show less
