Hi I'm Abrie Jensen

I am a student at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I play guitar, ukulele, sing, write songs, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music and my family. I play guitar, some piano, ukulele, and sing. I have written so many songs I have lost count and I love it! I am a student at Brigham Young University, Idaho and I am majoring in Marriage and Family counseling. I love listening to people, and I also have an amazing family and want to help others feel that kind of joy and love. Other things I love to do include swimming, hiking, drawing and reading.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon. I was also raised with the thought that I should develop my own opinions and feelings. When I was baptized as an eight year old, I knew it was what the lord wanted me to do, so I took a leap of faith. Now that I have a bit more life experience under my belt I really understand why the Lord wanted me to be baptized and keep my standards of LDS living. As an eight year old I had learned enough to choose for myself, but I had never needed apply Christ's teachings fully in my life. I had never done something I felt I couldn't take back. I had never needed to forgive. I had never felt alone, afraid, or overwhelmed. Yet, as real trials came into my life, I applied those things I had learned in church and from my parents. I sincerely prayed. I ready the Book or Mormon. I found peace and direction through those scriptures. I felt God's love for me and others. I am a Mormon because a life of faith and obedience has been a witness to me that Jesus Christ and his organization are the way to find happiness.

How I live my faith

So I mentioned my love for song writing! I write about whatever is on my mind, but recently I have started writing religious songs. Now I am hooked! When I write something that describes how I feel when I am close to my savior Jesus Christ, I am so full of joy! When I use the gifts God has given me to lift others, I find more fulfillment than through any other action. I have recently been called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Michigan Detroit mission. I will be leaving school, and then leaving my little home town which is the hottest city in the U.S., to serve in the humid, freezing, and big city of Detroit, and I have never been more excited! I am so excited because I have seen Jesus Christ change people's lives, and as a missionary my purpose will be to help others come to him. I personally work on coming closer to him everyday, and as I do I feel his love. I gain the power to overcome my trials, have felt real peace, and find hope. I love my savior Jesus Christ, and it is through the standards that make me a "Mormon" that I have come to know just how real he is, and just how much our Father in Heaven loves us.
