Hi I'm Sam

I'm from Moscow, ID. I love camping, smiling, and water. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student majoring in Biology and I love running, swimming, hiking, camping, and all things outdoors. Learning is the only passion that outweighs my love of nature, so on an average day you would find me inside studying, but whenever I get a chance I love to explore. I am half Swiss, so traveling is another passion of mine! I have traveled throughout the world, and was blessed with the opportunity to live in Switzerland for six months while in High School. This greatly broadened my perspective, and reminded me just how much I love being in good ole America. :) It also increased my love for all things European!

Why I am a Mormon

I have never had a vision, or some huge revelation. I've been a member all my life, but that is not why I continue to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is because I have truly felt His love reaching out to me and lifting me up out of my trials and tribulations. I know He cares about me and loves me, and I know that when I follow His word and the word of His prophets I will not only be happier, but I will bring increased happiness to those around me. This is a knowledge I have gained through trial and error, as the happiest times of my life have been when I have followed their council, and the saddest and loneliest have been when I strayed from their words. I know that it is only the power of God that could have allowed Joseph Smith to translate the Book of Mormon, and I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. The truths that it holds will bring happiness and peace to our lives. I know that Christ atoned for our sins, and has felt all the anguish and sorrow that we feel in our darkest moments. He cares. He knows our pain and is ready to lift us up as soon as we turn to him. We are all children of our Heavenly Father. He loves each and everyone of us more than we could ever know.

How I live my faith

As a college student I mostly live my faith by simply being me. I try to read my scriptures and feel close to my Heavenly Father at all times of the day. This allows me to know His will and how I can help His children. The gospel is one of happiness, and I strive to always keep a smile on my face and look up, knowing that He has a great plan in store for me. I love Visiting Teaching! It allows me to meet and do all I can to help the women that I am assigned to. The bonds of friendship that develop from this always astound me, and I find myself learning so much more than I feel I am able to teach them. We are surrounded by incredible people!
