Hi I'm Ayla McKay

I'm an Army housewife and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an army wife. I am only 19, but my husband and i make a wonderful couple and have know each other for 6 1/2 years. I am currently not working or going to school, but i have done a semester of college in Elementary Ed. We are Living Near Monterey CA in a military community filled with many other LDS members while my husband is in language training. Though we are both originally from the lovely state of Utah and can't wait to go home, we are enjoying the rain and the beach. I enjoy baking, drawing, singing in private, and making jewelry. My biggest desire in life is to have children. I love my family, my life, and my Savior Jesus Christ. Something i've always dreamed of 1: Is Seeing Ireland, 2: Is Doing Zorbing, 3: Is Being a Mother, and 4: Is Tasting food from every country. My top favorite things are the church, my husband, and a nice ice cold bottle of water. haha :)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a LDS family, but fell away when i was 15. I was, as far as i was concerned, an agnostic. No one could change my views on the church or on life. That's where my husband came in. He showed me the truth and brought me back from the brink of despair. I have never been more proud to call myself Mormon. I'm thankful for my husband, my mom and dad, and most of all my lord and savior Jesus Christ and my God. I am so thankful for forgiveness and the possibility of repentance. I have a testimony of the priesthood and the power of prayer, and i believe things can be revealed to you through reading the scriptures. I have never experienced more happiness and overwhelming joy than when I've felt the Holy Ghost with me. Achieving the purity and being well enough in tune with God to feel his love and presence in your life is THE best thing you will ever feel or experience. I KNOW the church is true and THAT is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Compassionate service member is my calling in the church. We try to give help to those who are in need of assistance and comforting. Whether they need Dinner for that night, a ride to the doctor, finding someone to babysit, or just a friend. I try to keep my home to the standards of the church where we watch only uplifting, wholesome, or family movies and Pray and read Scriptures regularly. With my husbands busy and stressful schedule i have to stay strong in my faith to keep our home clean enough for the spirit to enter. It is challenging at best. but "I know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their Trials, their troubles, and their afflictions and shall be lifted up at the last day" (Alma 36:3) and that "With God Nothing shall be Impossible" (Luke 1:37) I can be strong for my Husband when I am strong in my faith.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Ayla McKay
Yes, it is our belief that Men and Women are equals in the sense that they should be treated the same. Although there are things that only men can do and only women can do but not because one is better than the other we are made differently and for different purposes. Men can hold the priesthood and women can not. Many people believe that's wrong but it is something only they are capable of. Like having babies, only women can have babies. We don't consider it wrong of women for not letting their man have the baby. It's Physically impossible! Women have one of the most amazing roles in existence they have a divine similarity and connection with God, they make life! Nothing is more precious than creating life, and women get to do that. We are not treated poorly for it we are held in high regard because of it. We are not the same physically so it's only right for women to have different roles than men. This does not mean we treat men differently than women. We all have the same rights, just different abilities. Show more Show less
