Hi I'm Jon!

Games and technology are my passion. I play World of Warcraft on computer I custom built. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I'm in love with technology, games and the culture surrounding both. I subscribe to Wired magazine and I own a PlayStation 3. I know what a media server is and I can write Windows applications in three different programming languages. I've been playing World of Warcraft since the doors to Azeroth opened in November 2004. I'm also an avid fan of music and my tastes vary wildly from old-school hip hop, to classic rock, to country and everything in between.

Why I am a Mormon

Put simply, I chose to become a Latter-day Saint because I felt it was the right thing to do - and I still feel that way. The Gospel afforded me a crucial anchor at a point in my life when I needed one and it's been the only solid anchor in my life ever since. When I joined the Church, I was a very shy person and very introverted. I had no friends and I felt like I didn't have a family either. My apartment was more like a cave than a home. In the relatively short time I've been a member, I've been blessed with three friends I couldn't live with my life without (who I'm extremely confident feel the same way about me!). I spend more time outside in the community or with members of the Church than I do in my apartment - which now almost never feels claustrophobic or "cave-like." I enjoy spending time with other people - watching movies, going hiking, taking road trips. I'm a Latter-day Saint because the Church has given me a family I love to be around and a family that I can rely on no matter what I'm going through.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being me. The biggest part of my conversion to the Church was the change in my personality from a shy, quiet and introverted person - one who never went out of his way to help others, to make new friends or engage in social activities - to a person who loves being around other people. I live my faith by being an outward, easy going person who people can trust and get to know really easily. I live my faith by talking to my friends and family who aren't members about the Church all the time, so they can see how amazing it's been for me. I live my faith by showing everybody how the Gospel has transformed not only, but also my life.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Jon!
Absolutely! Listening to President Monson speak fills my heart with only the kinds of things that a true prophet of Heavenly Father could fill it with. All in one, President Monson's voice is sure and soothing, like when you used to sit on your grandfather's lap and hear stories about the "good old days." To me and to my heart, President Monson's voice is very similar to what I imagine Heavenly Father's own voice to be like and this is why I know he's Heavenly Father's prophet on this earth.
