Hi I'm Kate

I'm a college student in Idaho. I enjoy climbing mountains, skiing, playing music, and being with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My mother was very brave and homeschooled me and my four younger siblings. I loved listening to her read out loud to us. This love of words inspired me to be an English major at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I plan on becoming an editor or a freelance writer, or perhaps a famous novelist. Besides reading and writing, I love to make music. I've played the violin for 12 years, and I'm privileged to play with the local professional symphony. I also run a violin studio, and my students brighten my life. My family is made of awesome. I have three younger brothers and a sister. They are my best friends. Our family likes to take road trips and go canoeing. We love each other a whole heap of a lot.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon, and the area I live in is predominately Mormon. Because of this, I coasted on the testimony of others when I was younger. But when I was twelve, I prayed to ask if Joseph Smith Jr was a prophet. The Holy Ghost filled my heart with peace, and that was the start of many other small experiences that built my testimony of the restored gospel. I can't imagine not being with my family forever, so the temple covenants bring me comfort and joy. I know my family is sealed together forever. I see blessings and happiness every day from keeping the commandments.

How I live my faith

I'm a member of a congregation of students from my university. I'm really glad that I have the church here. It's hard to get to know very many people, but I always get to know the people in my student ward. I'm assigned with another girl to visit two other girls about once a month, just to see how they are doing, if they need anything, and share a short gospel message. Likewise, two girls are assigned to visit me every month. I've made some really wonderful friends because of this. It's nice to know that someone knows who I am.
