Hi I'm Daniel

I'm a husband, father, musician and programmer. I speak Portuguese. I've lived in Utah, California and Brazil. LDS? Yes.

About Me

I'm a husband and father of four, two boys and two girls. I'm a computer programmer and a musician. I work from home for a company in another state. I am a soccer coach. My two sons are both active in Scouting, and I've been a Cub Scout leader. I take my kids to lessons (dance, sports, choir, piano). My wife is an elementary teacher. We've got a busy life, and in a way we add to that by spending time serving in the church, but the church makes it all less busy and gives direction to all the craziness.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. It doesn't just make me feel good, it makes complete sense and I know it is true. However, I understand why it might not make sense to some people. I've seen so many people struggle with things in life and choose paths that make it hard for them to understand how Jesus and God relate to them personally. I've taken the scriptures at their word and done what they've asked, and what they've said has always proved true to me. I've seen the evidence and miracles. Aside from all that I know that the only way to really know godly things is to have a witness from God. The Holy Ghost gives that witness, and I've felt that witness, many, many times. As I serve others as God has asked, and as I try to follow his plan of happiness, then I feel his witness that what I'm doing is right. Without that witness my knowledge would fade, and I could find myself drifting away, but the feeling I get of the love of God for me and for everyone reminds me that the gospel is all true, and I can't deny it.

How I live my faith

I have helped in our local choir as a singer, organist, pianist and in a few areas as a director. For the last two years I have been ringing hand-bells as a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir organization called Bells on Temple Square. I love participating in the Christmas concerts and on Music and the Spoken Word on some special occasions like Veterans Day and Mother's Day. Good music has always helped me feel the Spirit. It takes a few hours each week to rehearse and prepare for the concerts and broadcasts, but the end result is always more than worth the effort. My prayer is that the music of the choir uplifts someone and helps them want to be closer to our Heavenly Father. I've had many other opportunities to serve besides things related to music. I've served a two year full-time mission in the Oakland California area, and then in Brazil, I've taught the youth, I've helped as a secretary or a leader of various organizations, and I've recently served as an executive secretary to our local bishop, which is a huge blessing to me. I've seen many lives changed for the better as my neighbors have served one another. Each time I've received a calling to serve, I feel it has been a direct calling to me from the Lord Jesus Christ as he directs his church and as he helps direct my life. Sometimes day to day life is tough when the kids aren't listening or work is stressful or whatever happens, but when I remember His love for me and focus on serving others, that's when I find I do my best.
