Hi I'm Veronica

I'm a college student. I'm a sister. I'm a daughter. I'm a friend. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student, majoring in Nursing. I really like learning new things, whether it be in college classes, or expanding my knowledge of the gospel, and everything around me. I love trying new things, even if I'm not good at it I just like the experience of trying something new and having the chance to learn from it. I joined the church in July of 2011 and I have loved every second of being a member since I've joined and along my path to joining. I really enjoy spending time with family and friends. I love being outside, whether it be just hanging around, going to the park, playing sports for fun, or going hiking or walking. I really like being in the woods, or at the lake. I like staying busy and being apart of different things such as service projects or activities, helping people and just being around other people. I really like meeting new people and being social. I'm not good at sitting still and being quiet. I really like to be out doing things and having fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the church by a really close friend of mine. I was getting ready to leave for college, kind of starting to find my path to who I wanted to be. I went church with her one Sunday and went to a member's house with her. I would just sit in on her lessons with the missionaries and just listen. My friend and the missionaries asked me what I thought about the church and everything I was learning, seeing, and hearing. It wasn't until that day that I even recognized how happy I was, and how positively the church was influencing me. I was unsure about everything around me because my family and friends may not support it or like what I would want to do. My friend asked if I would like to have my own lessons, learn for myself, ask my own questions. When I started having lessons I learned so much about the church, myself, and my Heavenly Father and Savior. I learned the feelings of comfort and peace as the Holy Ghost, a constant companion who was my guide for making decisions, and helping me learn of my Heavenly Father's will. It didn't take me long at all to learn that this church is the true church. It was hard to explain, but so easy to feel. I knew that this was where I needed to be. As long as I followed Heavenly Father's will and followed the path set for me I would be ok, my family would come to learn and grow just as I did and still continue to. It was a hard path to baptism, for a while there was only my feelings to know that I was doing right, it was hard to explain to those around me that did not approve of my actions. I was baptized in July of 2011 and ever since I've grown tremendously. My family and friends can see the light I have gained, and how I've grown. Many of them are learning more and more of the church and some are gaining testimonies of their own. I know that this church is true, as long as we follow the promptings that guide us we will be strengthened and become an example to those around us so they may gain the same strength.

How I live my faith

I am a Young Single Adult in the church. We have a lot of different activities and projects that can bring all of the young single adults together. I am a young single adult representative so I get to help set up activities, find different ways of getting everyone together to get to know each other, and have fun. I get to help organize many different dinners, and activities that are a lot of friend and help everyone meet new people and gain new friendships. Our ward has different celebrations that we get to help set up for, and that help everyone be apart of and meet new people and have fun. I also get to be a visiting teacher, and get to visit sisters in my ward to see how they are physically and spiritually. I bring an uplifting message and just get to spend time getting to know them and help them if they could use any help. I also have my own visiting teachers who come check up on me and help me out. It is really nice having visiting teachers, because it gives you a chance to meet sisters within your ward and learn about their families. It isn't like just being taught, you learn from them in different ways, get to know them, and gain new friendships. It's more like having a friend around and always having a person you know you can call or confide in, and who is always around to help you out and answer questions or do anything. It is nice to have those people, and to be one of those people, knowing that someone can also depend on you. It is the same with home teaching, having brethren stop by to visit you or your family, having an uplifiting message, having someone to stop by to help out or just be there for you. Being apart of the church isn't just going to church on Sundays, it's a whole lifestyle, having a whole ward family around you, taking part in activities, lessons, praying each day, reading the scriptures. By following these things nothing seems like a burden or in the way, it's a way of life that fills your life day by day with happiness and peace.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Veronica
We can come to know our Father in Heaven by praying to him daily for guidance and answers. By praying to our heavenly father we are using our power to ask for his help and guidance. By praying to him we can get answers to our prayers and gain more a testimony of our Heavenly Father. We can also gain a stronger relationship of our Savior, Heavenly Father, and everything around us by praying for guidance and answers. We can also come to know our Heavenly Father by reading the scriptures, going to church, give our service to those around us, and following his commandments to our knowledge and testimony may grow and we can come closer to him.
